‘Ozweigh” Seat belt Interlock is an after market addition to the OEM seat belt arrangement supplied on most modern forklifts.

The ‘Ozweigh” Seat belt Interlock renders the forklift unusable unless the seat belt is correctly fastened. An Interlock module is fitted to your forklift and manages the 3 main sensor switches from the drivers seat, hand brake and seat belt. A pre-set sequence of events must occur before the forklift truck can be started. It virtually ensures that the driver has correctly fastened the seat belt and not just sitting on it before commencing work. If any of the switches are disconnected or wiring tampered with the forklift is shut down.

As further security the OEM fitted webbing belt is replaced with a ‘Safety Yellow’ belt that is easily recognised if not worn correctly.

Seat belt Interlock Description

Exiting The Truck Momentarily

To Continue Work

The Seat belt interlock ensures that the following sequence of events occur before ignition will be allowed.

With the Hand brake ON, the driver must first sit in the drivers seat. The driver must then buckle his seat belt. Power will then be supplied to the ignition, so that the truck may be started at this point.

It is possible to exit the truck after power has been applied to the ignition. Should the driver need to exit the truck without turning the ignition off he may do so by performing the following sequence.

Apply the Hand brake. Remove the Seat belt. Exit the driver seat.

The power to the ignition will not be removed. To return to the truck the driver must then perform the following sequence:

Sit in the Driver Seat. Buckle his Seat belt. Remove the Hand brake.

Note: If the driver does not return within 10 minutes power to the ignition is turned off.

Incorrect SequenceIf the hand brake is removed before sitting and buckling his seat belt the power to the ignition will be removed. The driver will then need to perform the correct sequence to start the truck again.

Hand Brake Operation

The Seat belt interlock will monitor the state of the Hand brake when the driver has removed his seat belt and exited his seat. If the Hand brake has not been applied within two seconds the Horn will alternatively turn on and off to signify that the driver must apply the hand brake.
