2. Check for damaged parts. Before further use of the machine, a guard or other part that is damaged should be checked to ensure that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, breakage or parts, mounting, or any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced.

3. Disconnect the machine before servicing and when changing accessories such as blades, bits, cutters.

4. Keep guards in place and in working order.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR LOG SPLITTERS

Page 6: Ozito Lsg 966 Manual

Standard graphic symbols are used on all machines in order to ensure completesafety of all parts of the log splitter. As these symbols are very important, read theinformation below attentively.

SYMBOLS USED

6

Page 7: Ozito Lsg 966 Manual

Carefully remove the log splitter out of the packaging with the help of someone else. Rest it on the poly foam block (packed with machine in box) ona supported surface. (See Fig. 1)

Position the main body on the poly foam block and fix the support leg using the two bolts and two nuts, tighten them securely. (See Fig. 2)

With the main body supported by the poly foam block and previously fixed support leg, fix the rear wheel bracket to opposite end of the log splitter. Fix by removing the two nuts, placing the wheel bracket holes over the two matching threaded ends on the log splitter, then tighten the nuts back over the bracket using the spanners provided. (See Fig. 2)

Find the operating handle in the carton and screw it inside the fixing hold on the handle base. Tighten it securely.(See Fig. 3)

Now the log splitter is ready for use.

1. Plan your work site. Work safely and save effort by planning your work before hand.Have your logs positioned where they can be easily reached. Have a site located tostack the split wood or load it onto a nearby trailer or wheel barrow.

2. Prepare the logs for splitting. This splitter accommodates logs which size are nolarger than 520mm (length) x 250mm (diameter). Do not cut green wood with thesplitter. Only cut dry, seasoned logs.

Damaged caused to the log splitter by splitting green wood will not be coveredunder warranty.

3. Connect the power cord to the power supply, ensure it is out of the way and kept away from wet surfaces.

4. For the log splitter to work effectively, the unit must be placed on a level surface.

Should this not be possible ensure the wedge end of the main body is raised approximately 30mm higher than the motor end which will allow the hydraulics to work effectively.

5. Before use open the bleed screw (fig.4) by 3 or 4 turns. Tighten the screw again once you have finished using the splitter.

6. Place the log onto the log splitter lengthwise and lying flat on the main body. Thelog should lie flat on the splitter and be cradled by the log guiding plates. Neverattempt to split a log at an angle.

Important! Never cut against the grain. Overloading motor damage causedwhile trying to split wood against the grain will not be covered underwarranty.

7. When ready to do so, depress the on/off motor switch and wait for a few seconds, this will allow the motor to spin up and create pressure in the hydraulic pump. Aftera few seconds lower the operating handle (the on/off motor switch must remaindepressed). In doing so the log pusher will compress the log pushing it against thewedge. Once the log has split, release both the on/off motor switch and theoperating handle, the log pusher will retract.

Warning! If the log doesn’t split immediately, do not force it by maintainingthe thrust for more than 5 seconds. This can damage the machine. It is betterto try repositioning the log on the splitter ensuring the wedge is trying tocut with the grain and not against. If already with the grain this indicates thedensity of the wood exceeds the capacity of the machine and must be putaside and rejected so as not to damage the log splitter motor. Motor damagecaused by failure to do so will not be covered under warranty.

8. Stack the wood as you work. This will provide less clutter and a safer workingarea.

9. Remember to retighten the bleed screw when you have finished.

10. Disconnect the power lead and store the log splitter in a dry place out of thereach of children.

Warning! Before performing any maintenance always unplug the tool from thepower source.

Hydraulic Oil

The hydraulic oil must be checked to make sure it has a sufficient level.

Only use the following brands or equivalent of hydraulic oil;

CASTROL HYSPIN AWS22

MOBIL DTE11M

MOBIL FORKLIGHT 5

Damage caused to the log splitter from using the wrong type of oil will not becovered under warranty. Ensure you use the correct hydraulic oil.

Checking the Oil Level

1. Ensure the log pusher has fully retracted.

2. Tilt the log splitter up so the front end (wedge end) is up vertically.

3. Unscrew the dip stick (Fig. 5) and removeit completely along with the O-Ring oil seal.

4. Use a clean rag or cloth to clean the oil from the end of the dip stick.

5. Re insert the dip stick into the log splitter as far as it will go (without screwing it back in). Then remove and observe the oil level on the end of the dip stick. The oil level should be between the two lines on the end ofthe dip stick.

6. If it is low use a funnel and top the oil level up. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until the oilis between the two lines on the dipstick.

Damaged caused by failure to replenish low oil levels will not be covered underwarranty.

Changing the Hydraulic Oil

The oil will only need to be changed once every 6 months.

1. Ensure the log pusher has fully retracted.

2. Unscrew the dip stick (Fig. 5) and remove it completely along with the O-Ring oilseal.

3. Position a container under the log splitter that will hold at least 4 litres of oil. Oncethe container is in position tilt the machine to empty the oil into the container.

4. Once the old oil has been emptied tip the log splitter up so the front end (wedgeend) is up vertically.

5. Insert a funnel into the dip stick hole and fill the log splitter with approximately thesame amount of new hydraulic oil that you had just emptied into the container.Repeat steps 4 to 6 of Checking the Oil Level until the oil level is correct.

Cleaning the Log Splitter

• If the enclosure of the tool requires cleaning do not use solvents but a moist softcloth only. Never let any liquid get inside the tool (excluding hydraulic oil); neverimmerse any part of the tool into a liquid.

Note: Ozito Industries will not be responsible for any damage or injuries caused by therepair of the tool by an unauthorised person or by mishandling of the tool.
