Cost About the Doctoral Summer School Overview of Topics Humanities Doctoral Summer School 2020 Application Procedure College of Humanities, University of Kwazulu - Natal Howard College Campus Durban, South Africa 27 - 31 January 2020 The academic content covered in the Doctoral Summer School is fundamental to all areas of research in education, humanities, social and behavioural sciences. The goal is to support and strengthen the capacities of doctoral candidates in the College of Humnaities to complete their doctoral studies within the minimum required enrollment timeframe at UKZN. The Doctoral Summer School is FREE for all doctoral students in the College of Humanities. Accepted partiipants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements and costs. The Humanities Doctoral Summer School is a research support and development initiative aimed at providing academic support to doctoral candidates that are at the advanced stages (data analysis and write-up) to complete and submit their thesis in 2020. In addition to hands-on academic writing, data analysis and interpretation training, doctoral candidates will receive individualised academic support and mentorship during the five day summer school . - Academic writing, citation and referencing - Review of related literature (including the social welfare history of the research problem) - Policies and legislative frameworks - The use of theory in doctoral research - Research paradigms, ontologies and epistemologies - Qualitative and quantitative data analysis - Qualitative data verification and trustworthiness - Assessing reliability and validity in quantitative research - Research integrity and ethical considerations - Limitations of the study - Discussion and interpretation of the findings/results - Writing the conclusion chapter All applications to participate in the Doctoral Summer School must be received by: 15 January 2020 For enquires, please contact: Prof J.
