Cooperation and Partners–Low Carbon Energy University Alliance
Tsinghua, MIT & Cambridge have joined forces to establish a multiregional program to take on the challenge of energy supply and climate change.
The Alliance will leverage the expertise, creativity and experience of these world-class institutions through a highly focused, disciplined program of research and analysis designed to develop a suite low carbon technology options.
The Alliance will also help identify a wide range of policy and systems options to support and sustain a low carbon economy.
Chinese central government has committed to financially support the Alliance.
Recent Meetings with US Leaders and Officials
Senator John Kerry visited Tsinghua On May 26th and had a good discussion on the China and US energy and climate situation and the need for more substantial joint work.
Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi visited Tsinghua on May 28th and delivered a speech on climate change and environmental protection.
On June 9th Dr. John Holdren and Mr. David Sandalow visited Tsinghua.
On June 10th Mr. David Sandalow came to Tsinghua again to explore the opportunity for US-China collaboration on electric vehicles.
Summary
Tsinghua Ditan Lab has a solid foundation and comprehensive capabilities in low carbon energy technologies and policy studies
Tsinghua Ditan Lab has established a good basis in cooperation with US industries and academics
Tsinghua Ditan Lab can play an important role in China-US clean energy cooperation
