Students on WarningA student placed on Warning must meet with his/her academic advisor to discuss academic standing. This should be done as soon as possible following notification in order to modify the existing schedule for the term about to start, if appropriate. A hold will be placed on the student’s record preventing him/her from participating in early, regular, or late registration for the next term in which he/she intends to enroll, unless approval is obtained from the advisor.

Students on ProbationIf the minimum term GPA is not achieved at the end of a Warning term, the student will be placed on Probation for the following term and a registration hold applied for that term. If the student registered during the early advising period for the term he/she has been placed on Probation, the student will be encouraged to meet with the academic advisor to determine whether any schedule adjustments are needed. If the student did not register early, he/she must meet with an advisor prior to registering. The advisor will discuss with the student his/ her academic progress.

Students on SuspensionIf the minimum term GPA is not achieved at the end of a Probation term, the student will be placed on Suspension and not allowed to register for the following term. During the registration period for the term following the Suspension term, the student must meet with a counselor in the Student Life and Development Office to discuss his/her academic progress and to identify appropriate actions to improve performance. The counselor will complete the Registration Approval Form and require the student to submit it to his/her faculty advisor. The student will submit the completed form to Student Records where staff will override the academic standing allowing the student to register for courses.

Students who have completed one term’s absence on Suspension will continue to be identified as on Suspension status on the term in which they return.

Students on Second WarningIf the minimum term GPA is not achieved at the end of a Suspension status term, the student will be placed on Second Warning for the following term. The registration hold, already in effect, will prevent registration. The student must meet with his/her faculty advisor to discuss the factors affecting his/her academic performance.

Remember… Academic standing overrides are keyed by using the

ACADEMIC quickflow in Banner. Simply type ACADEMIC in the Direct Access field. The first time you access the ACADEMIC quickflow, the SOADEST form will appear – press the “X” or CTRL Q to exit SOADEST. SOADEST will appear each time log into Banner.

W1, P1, W2, and P2 academic standings overrides may be keyed in Banner. S1 and S2 overrides require the “Registration Approval” form with appropriate signatures.

All academic standing overrides keyed in Banner require a comment. Comment “type” should always match current academic standing (i.e., “W1” academic standing = “W1” comment type)

If a student has a registration hold, one of the following codes must be keyed in the “HOLDS” field (top right corner of 1st form) in order complete the override:

TC1 – fall registration TC2 – spring registration TC3 – summer registration
