Leadership Meeting
News About People
J anuary 2016
Our prayers of comfort are with the family of Alice Smith who died on December 3rd. Pray-
ers for continued healing for Jacy Franceschi and strengthening for Maye Hatcher. Prayers of
healing for Bruce Burr who has been battling with a series of persistent infections. Prayers
for Billie Kemp who was in the hospital last month, but is now home.
There will be a meeting for all leaders of the church on January 12th at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will
focus on the ministry of the church in 2016. There will be a time for strategizing about next steps
in ministry. There are various areas of ministry to be discussed: children and younger adults, min-
istry with men, prayer, faith sharing, newcomer welcome. All are encouraged to attend.
Human Relations Sunday, January 17th
A special offering will be taken on January 17th for Hu-
man Relations Sunday. This is one of “six special church-
wide Sundays with offerings celebrated in each United
Methodist Church” as required by The Book of Discipline
2008. Your offering on Human Relations Day, the Sunday
before the birthday observance of the Rev. Martin Luther
King Jr., strengthens United Methodist outreach to com-
munities in the United States and Puerto Rico, encourag-
ing social justice and work with at-risk youth. Please give
generously. Your gift makes a world of difference!
Sign-up Sunday
January 24th is Sign-up Sunday. The Church Council is sponsoring this Sunday to sign-up for lit-
urgists, fellowship time hosts and flower donors for 2016. There will be inserts in the bulletins dur-
ing the month of January on which congregation members can write down their preferences before
the 24th. Our goal is to fill as many Sundays as possible so that we can be ready for a successful
year of ministry together. We know that ministry is more fun with more people involved. So, please
sign-up!
Leadership Recognition
Sunday
The new 2016 church officers and
committee members will be honored
on January 24th during the worship
service. Please come and offer your
support and encouragement to our
church leaders.

when pop culture encounters the King of Kings
and the Lord of lords? Have you ever been
watching a film and felt echoes of Scripture?
Pastor and author Matt Rawle illuminates
Christ figures in movies such as Cool Hand

UMW News
Thank-you!
A huge thank-you to everyone who do-
nated decorations for our Christmas De-
lights tree and those of you who came
out Saturday morning to help decorate it.
The tree was beautiful and we had more
gifts under our tree than any other tree at
the event! Remember, next year’s theme
is Nutcracker Sweet, so be on the look
out for nutcrackers, mice, soldiers, ballet
items, candy theme decorations, etc.
Maybe you have something on your tree
this year you don’t need for next year, or
maybe you’ll find an appropriate item at
those great after Christmas sales! If you
are afraid you’ll misplace your donation
before next November, give it to Suzanne
Galloway, Lynne deBie or Kathy Mauer
Wright for safe keeping until next year!
UMW Tea
Our spring tea and luncheon will be here
before you know it! This year’s tea is on
Saturday March 12th and the theme is
Tiaras, Tutus and Tea. Janna Polik and
Stephanie Baltz are organizing a fashion
show of beautiful ballet costumes for this
year’s event. We will need people to sell
tickets, set tables, help with decorations,
provide raffle prizes, help with food etc.
Anyone have any good ideas for a des-
sert that’s easy to prepare and fits the
theme? We will be discussing details at
the next Grace Circle meeting.
Jubilee Circle, January 6th at 5:30
Location: Firehouse Bistro
116 N. 1st.
The women of the church, all ages, come
together to dine at a local restaurant on
the first Wednesday of the month.
Grace Circle, January 11th
Grace Circle and UMW will meet Monday
January 11th, 2016 at noon in the Fellow-
ship Hall. . Hostesses are Roxie Sanders
and Latoyia Reeb. Soup or salad and
dessert will be provided. Bring a sand-
wich if you desire.
Stained Glass Windows fundraising
UMW has volunteered to help spearhead
fundraising for the glass window cover-
ings for the historic stained glass win-
dows. Hopefully all the various church
groups will come up with ways they can
help support this project. UMW would like
to do a special window fundraiser, but we
need ideas! Bring your ideas to Grace
Circle or talk with
Suzanne Gallo-
way, Lynne de-
Bie or Kathy
Mauer Wright.
Hopefully we can
come up with a
fun and profitable
idea!
