July 2013 - January 2015 Present: Post-doctoral Researcher at the Institute of Computational Linguistics "Antonio Zampoli", Italian National Research Council. Development of theoretical digital models and practical methodologies for Digital History and Digital Epigraphy, based on heterogeneous primary sources (written, iconographic, iconotextual). Current Research

The production and dissemination of large-scale, high-quality ancient Greek texts produced through optical character recognition. Compute Canada provides critical resources for this project.

Hundreds of these works have been commercially hand-corrected to form a core of the Open Greek and Latin project of the Humboldt Chair of Digital Humanities at the University of Leipzig, e.g.: http://opengreekandlatin.github.io/catenae-dev/

Open Software Rigaudon, an OCR engine for polytonic Greek. Described in a forthcoming article in

Mouseion 14.3. Ciaconna, an OCR pipeline for ancient languages, based on Ocropus. It has produced

4,400,000 words of newly open ancient Greek text this year alone, through the ‘First Thousand Years of Greek’ project, a collaboration with the Widener Library, Harvard, the Center for Hellenic Studies, Tufts University and Mount Allison University.

Lace, an online viewing and editing environment for large volumes of OCR’d texts in Greek, Latin and other languages. Lace is being used by Digital Divide Data as an editing environment for the First Thousand Years of Greek project.

I. Champs d’activité privilégiés

Maître de Conférences en archéologie à l'Université d'Aix-Marseille, j'enseigne actuellement l'histoire ancienne (et en particulier l'histoire de la Méditerranée hellénistique et la géographie historique) au Département d’Histoire. Directrice de la MST Archéologie et Patrimoine Méditerranéens de 1993 à 1998, j'ai été amenée à m'intéresser au patrimoine. A l'origine spécialiste des civilisations de l'Adriatique antique, j’ai ainsi développé un nouvel axe de recherches portant sur la place du patrimoine dans la société contemporaine et sa contribution au développement local. Je m'intéresse en particulier aux problèmes spécifiques du patrimoine archéologique. Je cherche à développer au niveau international une recherche sur « le patrimoine facteur de bien être de la valorisation de la recherche archéologique à la réflexion sur le patrimoine facteur de bien être ». La plus grande partie de mes activités internationales est étroitement liée à cette réflexion sur la place du patrimoine dans nos sociétés et sur le rôle des différents acteurs à l’échelle aussi bien locale que

régionale, nationale ou internationale (Union Européenne en particulier). Depuis 2004, je fais partie du réseau Forum Unesco Université et Patrimoine.

Une grande partie de mes activités est liée à la réflexion menée sur l'introduction d'enseignements portant sur le patrimoine dans les cursus universitaires (Med-Campus, Alfa, FUUH). J'ai été à l'origine de la création de deux modules dans le cursus de Masters de l'Université de Provence portant l'un sur le patrimoine archéologique, l'autre, plus technique, sur les techniques de projet appliquées à la mise en valeur du patrimoine et sur la pondération des objectifs. Une de mes préoccupations essentielles est la mise en relation entre le monde professionnel de la recherche universitaire et le secteur extra-universitaire (partenariat dans le cadre d'étude de cas, recherche de stages pour les étudiants). Il s'agit de promouvoir une approche qui ne se préoccupe pas seulement de valoriser les résultats de la recherche fondamentale, mais qui entend contribuer par le biais d'une mise en valeur(s) du patrimoine des populations locales à leur épanouissement en leur permettant de retrouver les valeurs fondamentales de la vie en société (vivre ensemble). La démarche se place résolument dans le cadre de la recherche action.

2. Activités de formation

● Formation dans le cadre de l'Université Maître de Conférences à l'Université de Provence depuis septembre 1992, je suis rattachée depuis 1999 au Département d'histoire section Histoire Ancienne où j'enseigne à tous les niveaux de la licence et du master. J’ai en outre contribué à la préparation des étudiants des concours (CAPES Agrégation). J'ai assuré au niveau master (Langues et Epigraphie du Proche-Orient ancien; Patrimoine et aménagement local ; Tourisme Langues Patrimoine) des enseignements patrimoine, conduite de projet, tourisme et développement local.

De 1992 à 1998, j'ai eu à m'occuper de la Maîtrise Sciences et Techniques Archéologie et Patrimoine Méditerranéens dont j'ai assumé la direction à la rentrée de 1993. En tant que directrice, j’ai eu à mettre en place la réorganisation des enseignements de la formation en fonction de son transfert progressif à Arles (transfert de la 2nde année à la rentrée 1996, transfert de la 1ère année en 1997). Outre la gestion administrative et financière d’une formation recevant des financements extérieurs, j’ai eu en charge l’animation de l’équipe pédagogique pluridisciplinaire et composée d’universitaires et de professionnels du secteur. Une des tâches les plus intéressantes a été l’organisation des interventions extérieures de spécialistes et de professionnels du patrimoine et de l’archéologie venant de France, mais aussi des organisations internationales (UNESCO, Conseil de l’Europe, Commission Européenne) comme de différents pays européens et méditerranéens (Belgique, Croatie, Espagne, Italie, Malte, Tunisie, Turquie). J'ai eu aussi plaisir à mettre en place les stages en milieu professionnel des étudiants dont beaucoup ont souhaité partir à l’étranger avec des bourses de stages régionales. J’ai développé dans le cadre du programme Socrates-Erasmus des relations étroites avec les Facoltà di Conservazione dei Beni Culturali de Lecce et de Bologna (mobilité étudiante et enseignante).

L’évolution des enseignements de la MST et le développement de son volet patrimoine ont abouti à ce que l’enseignement que j’y ai délivré soit de plus en plus tourné vers les aspects institutionnels et méditerranéens. A côté d’enseignements de type traditionnel (Antiquités italiques; Histoire de l’art romain; Techniques de l’archéologie; Civilisations de la Méditerranée; Archéologie nationale), j’ai donc développé des enseignements plus spécifiques : Approches du patrimoine; Institutions et questions d’actualité du patrimoine; Le patrimoine archéologique en Méditerranée. Durant ma mobilité enseignante à Lecce (février 1998), j’ai présenté l’ensemble des problématiques liées au patrimoine archéologique en France tandis que j’ai été sollicitée par l’Université de Sousse (novembre 1998 et décembre 1999) et par l'Institut Supérieur des métiers du Patrimoine tunisien (mai 2001) pour délivrer un enseignement dans ce domaine.

1996-1998 : Projet de cours de langue intégré “ Une clef pour historiens de l’art : l’italien ”, financé dans le cadre de l’appel d’offres à projet-pilote Socrates (miniguide 2). Partenaires du projet : Università di Bologna; Université de Louvain La Neuve; Université de Provence. Ce projet entendait proposer une nouvelle approche de l’enseignement des langues aux non-spécialistes en associant un linguiste et un spécialiste du cursus des étudiants auxquels étaient destinés ce cours. Coordinatrice de ce projet pour le compte de l’Université de Provence, j’ai dû organiser l’ensemble des activités liées à sa réalisation : les 3 réunions de coordination et les 2 cours intensifs (1ère année à Aix, 2nde année à Louvain). J’ai en outre géré le budget du projet (38 670 ECU) et rédigé l’ensemble des rapports demandés dont le rapport final en octobre 1998.

● autres activités de formation

2012-2014 : Contactée par le pôle Langues dans le cadre de l'ouverture du Master Tourisme Langues Patrimoine à vocation professionnalisante, j'ai proposé aux responsables de sensibiliser les étudiants dès leur formation initiale aux logiques financières et comptables en recrutant comme chargée de cours une spécialiste de ce secteur de formation continue auprès des entreprises (ERDF entre autres). J'ai assuré avec elle le module d'initiation au mode projet (M2) et travaillé à la définition du projet personnel et professionnel des étudiants de M1 (Aire MAMHS). Parallèlement, je me suis occupée du module approches du patrimoine et pour l'aire MAMHS des modules de tourisme (analyse du tourisme comme phénomène économique ; tourisme et développement local). J'ai accepté de suivre les mémoires de recherche de plusieurs étudiants en insistant sur la dimension recherche - action (intervention sur le réel en vue d'un changement) par rapport à la vision plus classique d'une recherche visant à l'acquisition simple de connaissances. Dans le cadre de la seconde année, j'ai mis en place avec les partenaires de Provence Verte (Var) (office de tourisme, syndicat mixte du pays) une étude de cas permettant aux étudiants de se confronter concrètement à la complexité d'une opération d'aménagement touristique.

2005 : participation à l’élaboration de la maquette du Master professionnel " Métiers du patrimoine" (Patrimoine et aménagement local) avec intégration des deux modules de méthodologie créés dans le cadre du Master Sciences du langage parcours 7. 2003 : participation à l'élaboration de la maquette du parcours 7 "Langues et épigraphie du Proche-Orient ancien" du Master Sciences du Langage. Il s'agissait d'y introduire des enseignements pré-professionnels . Mise en place de deux modules portant l'un sur le patrimoine archéologique, l'autre, plus technique, sur les techniques de projet appliquées à la mise en valeur du patrimoine. Mai 2001 : Mission en Tunisie auprès de l'Institut Supérieur des Métiers du Patrimoine. Cycle de séminaires sur la conservation et la présentation du patrimoine archéologique et échange d'expériences en matière de formation aux métiers du patrimoine.

Décembre 1999 : Série de séminaires à l’Université de Sousse sur le Patrimoine (les politiques patrimoniales en France et en Italie; la prospection archéologique : instrument de connaissance et/ou outil de gestion ?). Novembre 1998 : Série de séminaires à l’Université de Sousse sur le Patrimoine archéologique (intégration à l’aménagement du territoire; gestion en France et en Italie; évolution récente du traitement du matériel archéologique; bilan et perspectives de l’archéologie de terrain en France). Février 1998 : Mobilité enseignante prévue dans le cadre du Contrat Socrates (TS) à Lecce: série de cours sur le patrimoine en France pour les étudiants de la Laurea in Conservazione dei Beni culturali et pour ceux de la Scuola di Specializzazione. Automne 1996: en collaboration avec le service de formation continue de l’Université de Provence et le Service Régional de l’Archéologie (DRAC), réalisation du stage de formation continue destiné aux responsables des chantiers archéologiques de l’AFAN “ Techniques de l’écrit ”. L’objectif était de “ maîtriser les techniques de l’écrit afin d’être capable de présenter un texte clair et précis en fonction du type de textes à élaborer ”. Juin 1995 : réalisation pour le compte de l’Université de Provence et en collaboration avec la Ville d’Arles de l’atelier de formation dans le cadre du projet Med-Campus B257 "0rganisation, gestion et techniques pour la restauration des sites historiques de la Méditerranée" (3 semaines).

3. Projets en collaboration

2008-2012 : Projet Patrimoine facteur de bien-être. De la valorisation de la recherche archéologique à la réflexion sur le patrimoine facteur de bien-être. Ce projet n'a pu être mis en place du fait de problèmes familiaux. Il est en cours de réactivation. Les traces du passé sont objet de recherches qui visent chacune avec leur méthodologie propre à mieux connaître, mieux conserver, mieux mettre à disposition des générations actuelles et futures les multiples valeurs qu’elle leur attribue. Force est cependant de constater qu’actuellement les résultats atteints ne semblent pas à la hauteur des efforts déployés, sans doute parce que focalisées sur l’Objet, ces recherches ne prennent pas suffisamment en compte le point de vue du Sujet et ne s’interrogent guère sur l’adéquation de leur objectif final au vécu et aux attentes des communautés

concernées. En replaçant les populations locales au coeur de la problématique et en s'interrogeant sur leur vécu, il s'agit de voir comment intégrer cette dimension dans les projets de mise en valeur. 2005 2012 : PCR Riez et le territoire riezois : approches diachroniques axe de recherche sur le patrimoine riezois et sa mise en valeur. 2001-2002 : Programme Alfa II : Projet alfa "Intervencion sobre los programmas universitarios enfocados a la conservacion y valorizacion del patrimonio historico y monumental come fuente de desarollo economico y social" (www.casalfa.net) qui s'inscrit dans le prolongement du précédent avec l'adjonction d'un nouveau partenaire paraguayen Universidad Catolica "Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion. Organisation de la réunion des partenaires du projet (Aix,1-5 mai 2002) et visite de courte durée à Lima (15-21 septembre 2002). 2000-2001 : Programme Euromed Heritage, Projet P.I.S.A. "Programmation intégrée dans les sites archéologiques" (www.pisanet.org) Contrat de collaboration (chercheur senior) avec l’Imed Coordinatrice des activités de la recherche-action en France (étude du cas de Bibracte) et co-organisatrice avec M. Christian Landeau, coordinateur national du projet pour la France, de l’atelier de Bibracte sur " Mise en valeur des sites archéologiques et développement local" (25-30 octobre 2000). 1998 : Programme Alfa I : Projet « Patrimonio monumental factor de desarrollo ecónomico ». Partenaires du projet : Università degli Studi di Roma « La Sapienza » (Italie); Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (Espagne); Université de Provence (France); Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria de Lima (Pérou); Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentine). Participation aux séminaires de réflexion sur l’introduction des enseignements spécifiques (Buenos Aires, Argentine ; 15-27 avril 1998 ; Rome, décembre 1998). Le projet présenté avait pour but d’analyser les cursus universitaires des Facultés d’architecture latino-américaines et européennes pour y introduire des enseignements spécifiques concernant la conservation et la mise en valeur du patrimoine ainsi que sa protection juridique. 1996 : Programme Euromed Heritage : Participation au titre de l'Université de Provence aux ateliers organisés dans le cadre de la réunion euro-méditerranéenne des ministres de la culture sur le patrimoine culturel (Bologne, 22-23 avril 1996) : - Arles 9-10 février 1996 : Identité et conservation du patrimoine culturel dans le contexte euro-méditerranéen. - Berlin 23-24 février 1996 : Accessibilité au patrimoine culturel -Amman 22-23 mars 1996 : le patrimoine culturel comme facteur de développement durable.
