Resource Efficient Scotland
We help business, and public and third-sector organisations save money by using resources efficiently.
We provide free specialist advice, training, access to funding and suppliers, and in-person on-site support to help cut energy, water, waste and raw material costs.
Maximising the value of resource use• Maximising resource efficiency can:
─ Save £2.9 billion in Scotland alone─ Reduce energy, water, waste and raw materials costs─ Help increase competiveness─ Increase job security─ Improve reputation
Guiding principles
• A service for all, tailored to opportunity• Clear focus on implementation and savings• High quality and consistency throughout• Independent advice• Flexibility in meeting business needs
Why is support available?
• Climate change is real = regulation• Resources are becoming more scarce,
and costly to buy • Waste disposal costs are rising• Competition in the global market is getting
tougher• Greater need for businesses to demonstrate
environmental credentials
• Landfill Tax Regulations 1996─ Currently £80/tonne
• Waste (Scotland) Regulations 2012─ paper, card, plastic, glass and metal
• 01 January 2014• 5kg food waste 01 January 2016
• Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009─ 80% reduction in GHG emissions by 2050
• CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme • Climate Change Agreements (CCA)• ESOS
