LED Technology – reasons why ?

World climate conference 2009

greenhouse gascarbon dioxide (CO2, as a reference value), methane(CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), fluorinated hydrocarbon andsulfur hexafluoride (SF6).

·

Most of these greenhouse gases are occured by burning fossil fuels to produce energy and heatness.

The Goal is to reduce the CO2 emission until 2020 for more than 20%.(Until 2020 the energy consumption will increase for more than 20%.)

This is a very big GOAL !!!

the heat of the LEDs effectively andthus increases the efficiency of the diode.

Control optionsThe intelligent control system enablesluminous flux adaptation according to needsand reduces energy costs.

Lighting technology

The precisely calculated facetted reflectors split the raysof the High Power LEDs intowide-area light. In this way they illuminate with high precision roads, paths and town squares. They alsoprevent glare for drivers, pedestrians and residents

High Definition Reflector (HD-R)

High Definition Cover (HD -C)

·

11

The wave-formed cover of the Streetlight 10 is adapted tothe emission angle of the light rays. The luminaire head has an all-roundframe. The Streetlight 10 module flush fits into this. Light is only guided into the lower hemisphere, making the Streetlight 10 luminaire Dark Sky compatible to 100 percent.

High Definition Cover (HD -C)

Lighting technology

The High Power LEDs are thermally coupled to the aluminium housing of the module. The complete module is tightly screw-fastened to the luminaire housing. This gives a large contact surface via which the heat of the LEDs is dissipated with maximum efficiency.

The High Definition Cover is completely bonded with the module support all-round. Humidity, dirt particles and insects cannot enter to soil the optics. The quality of light is permanently safeguarded.

Streetlight 10 module

Secure bonding

Instant luminous flux

·

12

The LED module provides full luminous flux immediately after switching on. That means: Standardised light from the beginning, without losses from starting up times as with conventional lamps.

Keyhole suspension means easy replacement of the module: The screws only need to be loosened by a few turns. The screw head still holds the module during mounting.

No glare for car drivers

With Streetlight 10, the risk of glare is significantly reduced with typical observer situations for car drivers in the far, mid and near field areas. With LED luminaires with lens optics on the other hand, approaching traffic participants experience glare, and mainly in the far field. With Streetlight 10, this is avoided thanks to outstanding lighting technology.

Lighting technology

High Definition Reflector:Light distribution over three zones

1 Far field: The central, V-formed facettedreflector guides the main component of emitted lightspecifically to the far field. Uncontrolledand excessive emission to the ground belowthe luminaire is prevented. A direct view of theLEDs is impossible for moving traffic participants.

·

14

2 Central field: Light is emitted without deflection andwith high efficiency from the luminaire. The positionof the LEDs is selected so that the diodes from thetypical observer position cannot be viewedand direct glare is thus avoided.

3 Near field: The lateral facetted reflector guidesthe light to the area directly below the luminaire. The light distribution guarantees best possibleglare limitation.

Changeable LED Modul at the end of lifetime

·

Sustainability – all possibilities for the future !

Ease of use by replace the led module

-This concept allows to change modules whenever- a more efficient LED generation is available or - another light distribution is needed

Gear tray

·

Gear trayLuminaire can open downwards.A complete gear tray with all electrical components is installed.

By changing a LED module at the end of lifetime, 90% of the material will stay on the pole. Only 10% will be changed. This is „Best in class“

Spare parts: Module and ECG can be ordered seperately.

Streetlight 10Thermal management system of the Streetlight 10 Midi

Principle of convectionThe physical principle of convection is used to highly effectively dissipate the heat produced by the LEDs. Convection describes a flow movement produced by differences in pressure: cool air flows from below to the luminaire housing. A part of the air flow is conducted past

A part of the air flow is conducted past the housing on the sides, the other part travels vertically through air apertures in the housing. The rising air dissipates the heat and conducts air through after it.

Optics - Reflectors

The combination of an Micro-LED-reflector with a luminaire reflector with MIRO®-quality and highly efficient white cover glass ensures a glare free and very precise light distribution with excellent visual comfort.

Thermal Management

The luminaire housing is also cooling element for the LED modules. The electronic control unit is situated in the mast mounting element. The fact that the LEDs and the electronic control unit are separated is an advantage regarding the thermal management.

For all applications the right light distribution

A: road lightingasymmetric wide beam light distribution

B: foot path / cycle pathasymmetric extremely wide beam light distribution

C: squaresymmetric wide beam light distribution

·

Light Colours: warm white, atmospherical light

·

Warm white light for creating atmosphere and giving orientation Pleasant warm white light colour is ideal for areas where an atmosphere and well-being shall be created –for the lighting of representatives squares, residential areas or parks.

Light Colours: neutral white, functional light

·

Neutral white light for funtionality and safetyNeutral white light colour supports the efficiency and safety in road lighting. According to field tests in cooperation with the university in Darmstadt, Germany, it was found that the neutral white light of LEDs is especially comfortable because of the combination of good colour rendering, visual comfort and functional lighting.

Ŋŋ= 0,0 %The mechanical concept of the DL20 LED with flat cover glassprevents light emission into the upper hemisphereand thus, the brightening of our night sky.

Dark Sky

·

• saves energy and protects the environment • protects surroundings from spilled light • protects insects which are especially active during night times • reduces operating costs • future-proof regarding upcoming laws and regulations

Energy Efficiency

More light, less energy and a reduced CO 2 emission

The aim: to create as much light as possible with as low energy consumption as possible.

This can be achieved by the combination of excellent lighting technology, latest LED technology, high-quality electronic control units and a precise light distribution.

Compared to conventional technology, the energy consumption

·

Compared to conventional technology, the energy consumption of a high-quality LED luminaire can be reduced by 8 times. But still the LED luminaire can fulfill the same lighting requirements with less CO2 emisson.

Instead of switching the luminaires off, the LED luminaires can be dimmed and thus can save energy by ensuring the lighting levels and the safety on the roads.

Constant luminous flux and individual lighting control according to your needs.

White glass for SQ

• as the lighting enclosure of SQ is relatively small, a special white glass is used in order to further increase the transmission level.

• Light transmission is much better compared to a standard green glass. Like this, the possible disadvantage of the smaller lighting enclosure can be nearly eliminated.

• White glass does not show the typical greenish colour. Trans-mission and colour neutrality is much better.
