What is Outdoor Learning?
Outdoor Learning: – offers children experiences not easily
achieved indoors– Provides sensory stimuli– Leads to greater levels of creativity and
understanding– Allows children to develop skills,
knowledge and understanding without the constraints of a classroom
• At Long Crendon School we have extensive grounds rich in habitats, woodland environments and wildlife
• Areas we use include:– Pond– Allotments–Woodland walk
Why do Outdoor Learning?
What do the children gain from Outdoor Learning?
– have a hands-on approach– develop confidence, self-awareness and life
skills– learn new facts, ideas and concepts about
the environment and the world in which they live
– grow and become more independent, motivated and willing to learn
– play, explore and investigate
