Out From Under Wraps: Wrapix Imaging RAISED BY PRINT For Adam Sumner, owner of Wrapix Imaging, a career in the print industry has been a long time coming. The son of an offset printer, Sumner migrated to wide format graphics printing just over a decade ago, founding Wrapix in the process. Today, the shop specializes in everything from large-format fabric printing to custom vinyl graphics, focusing on red carpet events and vehicle wraps. Wrapix customers expect colors to pop and inks to maintain their density—and they expect a quick turnaround, too. The shop relies on ColorPainter to meet—and even exceed— those expectations. MAKING THE SWITCH Wrapix’s reputation for consistent, high-quality work ushered in a growing base of high-profile clients. As production ramped up to meet the new demand, Sumner knew he needed a printer that could maintain color density and precision at high production speeds. He had always had his eye on ColorPainter, he says. Sumner chose a ColorPainter H3-104s for Wrapix’s booming red carpet business, knowing it would pack that high- production punch, while providing the 104” width for application versatility.

The name does say it all. It looks like paint. The color that comes off the OKI printers—you can see a very visible difference.”

THE WRAPS TEACHERWhen he’s not providing some of Southern California’s most valued wide format graphics services, Sumner teaches the art of wrap installation as a 3M-certified wrap trainer. At his Wrapix Academy in Burbank, CA—the only 3M-certified training facility on the West coast—Sumner offers individualized courses to installers of all experience levels using output from his ColorPainter E-64s.

HIGH-SPEED, HIGH-DENSITY COLOR—EVERY TIME.The ColorPainter difference is evident for Sumner and his Wrapix crew. “The name does say it all. It looks like paint,” he says. “The color that comes off the OKI printers—you can see a very visible difference.” OKI’s dense, color-rich output withstands the harshest of climates, making all the difference in outdoor applications like vehicle wraps, Sumner adds. Of course, color vibrancy is nothing if it isn’t consistent. Sumner counts on his ColorPainter’s ability to maintain color consistency on large jobs, “pumping out roll after roll every day, with the same color from the first roll to the 10th roll,” he explains.

No matter the size of the job, Sumner says “speed is a vital part in our industry.” Trusted wide format graphics providers like Wrapix have no time to waste. Sumner rests his company’s reputation on his ColorPainter printers, and the personnel who operate them: “The consistency that I get on color and the speed that it produces is out of control.”
