In! 2014! Our! Lady! of! the! Sacred! Heart! Catholic! College! Alice! Springs! began! a! process! of! strategic! planning! for! the! years! 2015! to! 2019.! This! process!
considered!a!number!of!factors!such!as!the!school's!history,!location,!its!role!as!a!Diocesan!school,!its!commitment!to!the!Marist!tradition,!its!understanding!
of!the!needs!of!its!students!and!their!families,!and!its!response!to!the!emerging!demands!of!a!new!Australian!Curriculum.!!!

A!major!resource!in!developing!this!plan!was!the!School!Improvement!and!Renewal!Framework!(Catholic!Education!Northern!Territory!Diocese!of!Darwin).!
This!framework!identifies!six!key!areas!for!school!improvement:!

2. Teaching!and!Learning;!
3. Leadership!and!Governance;!
4. Pastoral!Care!and!well!being;!
5. Culture!&!Community;!
6. Finance!and!Facilities!and!Resources;!!

The!OLSH!Alice!Springs!Strategic!Improvement!Plan!reflects!significant!consultation!within!the!broad!College!community.!A!series!of!meetings!with!College!
Leadership!Team,!middle!managers!and!a!whole!staff!consultation!were!held!across!all!three!campuses.!A!series!of!focus!groups!with!students,!staff!and!
parents!were!conducted.!Parent!and!staff!satisfaction!surveys!as!well!as!a!full!student!satisfaction!survey!(Years!5!to!12)!further!supported!insights!from!
these!consultations.!!

The!OLSH!Alice!Springs!Strategic!Improvement!Plan!emerging!from!this!process!has!identified!a!series!of!quality!improvement!projects!that!will!span!the!life!
of!the!plan!and!beyond.!These!projects!will!be!further!developed!in!each!of!the!Annual!Improvement!Plans!as!they!emerge.!!

It!is!important!to!appreciate!that!the!strategic!context!in!which!the!College!operates!is!constantly!changing.!Federal!and!State!Governments,!the!Catholic!
Education! Office,! the! broader! Church! and! an! increasing! number! of! groups! and! interests! all!make! their! demands! on! schools.! These! demands!must! be!
accommodated!within!our!planning!cycle!while!at!the!same!time!we!respond!creatively!to!local!circumstances.!!

In! the! light!of! the!current!emphasis!on!pedagogy! the! incoming!Strategic! Improvement!Plan!contains!a!strong!emphasis!on!curriculum!development!and!
