OUR YEAR IN REVIEW Greater Sydney Local Land Services On behalf of our management and staff, it gives me great pleasure to present the Greater Sydney Local Land Services 2017 Annual Report. Greater Sydney Local Land Services works with land managers and the community to boost primary production within healthy landscapes. We are here to help you manage your land through expert advice and information, on-ground support and grant funding. We can connect you with the right resources and support to both improve agricultural productivity and better manage the natural environment on your property. During 2017 we continued to deliver a broad range of projects, services and campaigns to beneft our customers across our region. The beginning of the year saw the launch of our partnership with NSW Farmers to boost on ground support for growers on the Central Coast. The frst of its kind in the state, the partnership has already seen seven workshops and feld days held attracting almost 200 attendees. Last year also saw us deliver 40 events to more than 740 producers and industry reps as part of the second stage of our $1 million vegNET NSW partnership with Horticulture Innovation Australia. 2017 also saw more than 1,500 producers and industry representatives attend various events at our Richmond demonstration farm. Pleasingly, in 2017 we rolled out some of our largest pest animal control campaigns to date, including wild dog and fox baiting programs in South West Sydney and Central Coast areas, a large scale feral rabbit baiting program in the Hills and Hawkesbury regions and ongoing work to reduce the impact of feral pigs in the Blue Mountains. To complement this work, we also developed the Greater Sydney Biosecurity Handbook, a comprehensive guide for land managers on protecting their land, the economy and environment from the threat of invasive pests and diseases. Other highlights included running our frst Aboriginal Cultural Burning workshop which attracted more than 180 attendees and hosting almost 200 people at the Greater Sydney Agricultural Industry Dinner in partnership with our sponsors in October. Terry Charlton Chair, Greater Sydney Local Land Services 2017 Snapshot We assisted 153 land managers and community groups to enhance and protect the environment by providing $ 2.5 M in incentive funding. We’re the boots on the ground to support agriculture and animals in an emergency and responded to two emergencies in 2017. More than 70 per cent of staff have been trained to assist our customers in the event of an emergency or biosecurity outbreak. We worked with land managers to establish wild dog management plans with 75 properties involved in cross tenure baiting over an area of approximately 10,000 ha across the region. We support Aboriginal people to care for Country, share traditional land management knowledge and help protect and strengthen Aboriginal cultural heritage. More than 11 ha of land with Aboriginal cultural value was managed along with 29 Aboriginal sites. We increased the capacity of land managers to improve primary production and natural resource management and trained more than 2,400 customers at training events and 10,800 attending awareness raising events. Our vets and biosecurity officers attended more than 400 general consultations and conducted 40 disease investigations. We also engaged livestock owners in best practice biosecurity management and property planning through three workshops involving about 150 landholders.

The Greater Sydney Regional Strategic Weed Management Plan was endorsed and implemented to protect the region from biosecurity threats.

We developed and distributed a biosecurity handbook for new and existing landholders giving them access to the basics of biosecurity at their fingertips.

We established a regional pest committee and prepared a draft pest management plan for public consultation in 2018.

To protect market access, we issued 379 Property Identification Codes.

Our customer service team assisted more than 5,500 customers.

Our staff receive high quality training to ensure they have the necessary skills to provide quality service to our customers.

We welcomed new appointed and elected board members to the organisation.
