Our Wedding Day in 1992. I had hoped this was the last time I would say “I Do”… Jada was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen.

Hannah, age 12, had shards of glass in her back… with a lot of bruising. Most of her damage was psychlogical. She has battled severe depression. She cut herself for a while to “Relieve her Pain”. She is doing better now.

Hayley, age 9, suffered a collapsed lung, internal bleeding and severe bruising from the collision. Her depression led to a hospital stay. She still fights this fight today… and is winning, although the pain remains.These pics were taken 2 weeks after the wreck.

My baby, Madi Rose, age 8, suffered a broken back, broken and dislocated thumb and severe bruising from a lap belt. A few days earlier, I had to tell this precious baby that her Mom was dead. As her sisters have suffered from depression, she has as well, but it comes out as anger. It’s been hard.

My injuries included a shattered ankle. I still have a lot of screws and rods keeping it all together. This pic was 2 weeks after the wreck. My face was a complete mess. But the broken heart is still the most severe injury.

We were hit, the Yukon then hit the tree and then rolled 100 yards out into the field. Another picture etched into my memory.

The broken body of my beautiful Jada. The engine crushed her. I cried for her to answer me. All I saw was her take her last breath. I still just want to hold her… tell her I love her and let her know how much I miss her. I didn’t even get to tell her goodbye.

This is Dana McCormick. The 17 Year Old Drunk Driver who killed my wife and destroyed our family. She made a lot of horrible choices that day. She said she was going to get drunk and drive like a beast, according to the teenage boys who left the vehicle because she was scaring them with her driving. I wish they would’ve had the courage to take the keys from her. She was driving with a .20 blood alcohol level.. Nearly 3 times the legal limit for an adult. This was her 2nd DUI. Her 1st was a 100 mph DUI. On THIS day, she called her Dad to buy her booze… and he did. $67 dollars of vodka, OJ and beer.. Parents… please parent your children, don’t be their“Buddy”.She was convicted of 2nd degreeMurder. She spent 5 years in a Juvenile facility. Her Dad got 2, One year sentences for felonyChild endangerment.

Another bad choice. This “was” Haley Bettencourt. 17 years old, pretty cheerleader. She chose to stay in the Yukon with Dana. Others in the Yukon begged her to get out. It was a fatal decision. She was an only child.

Haley Bettencourt is laying under the blanket. She bled to death after the SUV rolled over on her. She wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Another really bad choice.

April 2011, My Daughter, Hannah was married. It was a beautiful day… and one of the most difficult days for me. My knees buckled and the tears started rolling as I was walking her down the aisle. All the memories of 7 years being “Mr. Mom” came rushing back. All of the proms and Birthdays my wife should’ve been there for. All that pain hit me at once. I made it through it. And it was a beautiful wedding. My story is to let you know that you can make it through anything. We choose to live one day at a time.

I know she’s the one who keeps telling me to speak out… keep telling the story. Telling me to share my pain, so others will feel it and learn from it.
