Dignity and Determination Website address: http://durackschool.nt.edu.au/ Oh what fun we had last Friday night at the Toad Bust! I would like to acknowledge and thank our wonderful teacher Jackie Edie for her passion and organisational skills in the running of this event. I certainly didn’t want to pick up any of those toads! It was such an excellent example of our school working alongside the community and contributing to the environmental needs of our local area. The groups of toad hunters certainly did a great job taking 780 toads out of our neighbourhood! Please note that Palmerston City Council has put out a croc warning regarding a sighting of a croc in the 6 th lake on the Durack golf course. There are signs posted, however, residents are being warned to be croc wise. We have included the croc wise flyer in this newsletter. Thank you to the parents that have begun to let the office know if they are leaving Durack School at the end of 2016 and also to those parents who have supplied information via our Parent Preference form for their child’s placement in 2017. This information is essential for us to begin our process of planning for 2017. Likewise, we are now calling for parents to begin enrolling their preschool aged students for 2017. These are children that are turning 4 years old, before 30 th June 2017 and that live in the suburb of Durack, Pinelands, Yarrawonga and Robbie Robins Reserve. Please contact the school office for enrolment information. I would also urge parents to contribute to the work that has commenced into the Palmerston dual campus college model, which will include both Rosebery Middle School and Palmerston Senior College campuses. There are a number of information and focus group sessions running between now and the end of the year. This is a wonderful opportunity for current middle school and senior school parents, as well as those future middle school and senior school parents to contribute and assist in the shaping of this dual campus college model which will benefit education pathways in Palmerston in 2018 and beyond. I was excited to see that notes have gone home in preparation for our end of year assemblies and assembly items. Mrs Walker is working hard with students on some very impressive productions, so I would encourage parents to help where they can and provide assistance with costuming for these events. The assemblies are an excellent way to celebrate the fabulous year of learning and talent that we have here at Durack School. Jo Jefferson Principal FROM THE PRINCIPAL
