welcoming all, and serving God by serving others.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We all watched in horror as Notre Dame Cathedral caught fire and burned brightagainst the Paris night sky. We wondered what the morning dawn would hold for

this beautiful cathedral and all of us who worshipped there and admired it’sbeauty. Thanks to the heroic work of first responders and the inspired designersof this cathedral, our worst fears were not realized. Our Lady as she’s known inEnglish, still stood with many of her treasures intact. There was also a firmcommitment by the French government and many private corporations to rebuildthat which was destroyed. And though this appears at this time to be anaccidental fire, that is not the case with 3 other recent fires at churches.

Three predominately black churches in Louisiana were intentionally set on firerecently as an act of prejudice and intimidation. Sadly, these Houses of Worshipwere completely destroyed. No one was injured in any of these fires and for thatwe should be grateful. I said to Russell the other evening that I hoped the HolySpirit would use all these fires to the Good of the Kingdom. I got almost an almostimmediate affirmation of that comment as I watched Parisians all around the citysing hymns as their cathedral burned. The higher the flames the louder thechorus.

Another affirmation came in the news as I read that a GoFundMe campaign tohelp rebuild the three Louisiana churches had reached 60% of it’s $1.8 milliongoal. People from all over our country have reached out to help these ruralchurches rebuild after this act of hate. All of these churches, be they grandcathedrals or humble churches, are more then just buildings. They are spiritualhomes to people. Within these walls people feel safe, they find comfort, they seekto understand their Creator and worship God. From these places we call ourchurch home, we go out into the world to serve God in whatever way we havebeen called to do so. It is to these buildings that we return time and time again tobe spiritually nurtured for the work we are given to do.

Let us pray for the church members directly impacted by these fires. And if youare so inclined, here is the link to the GoFundMe rebuilding campaign for thethree churches in Louisiana.(https://www.gofundme.com/f/church-fires-st-landry-parishmacedonia-ministry) Let’s help put their fundraising over the top! Also, I think now is a time take amoment in prayer to thank God for your own spiritual home at Christ Church. Wehave been blessed here indeed.

May you have a rich and blessed Holy Week, Fr. Jim

QUOTE"If your understanding of the divine made you kinder, more empathetic, and

impelled you to express sympathy in concrete acts of loving-kindness, this wasgood theology. But if your notion of God made you unkind, belligerent, cruel, of

self-righteous, or if it led you to kill in God's name, it was bad theology."

Mark’s Gospel-- Uncovered

Mark is the shortest of the canonical gospels; it can be characterized as a “justthe facts, ma’am” style of writing which is why it is such a wonderful Gospel tounpack and uncover. Mark's Gospel in one sense represents the simplest formof the early Christian message, but there is such richness beneath the apparentsimplicity.

Join us as we dig deeper into this Gospel’s essence through a close examinationof Mark’s writing style and uncover more profound truths that relate to youreveryday life! Led by Mother Deborah. Bring a bag lunch if you would like.

All,

Welcome to the first phase of the JUNIOR WARDEN'S SUSTAINABILITYPROJECT, a series of activities over the next two years that will both beautify, and make use of, our Grand Church Campus. In this first phase, the focus will beon the neglected property behind our church parking lot. We will feature a numberof plantings in this area. Plans are in the works to plant, enjoy, and harvest anumber of vegetables and specific plant groups. This year's focus will be ontomatoes, peppers, sunflowers, milkweed (for butterfly propagation) and buddlejadavidii (for butterfly and hummingbird attraction).

Here's where you come in. I will need chicken wire, stakes, tomato cages, bagged soil (non-inert, which means enriched with fertilizer and manure), and ofcourse plant material. Give whatever extra you have as you begin your owngarden projects. How cool is setting aside something for your church? No need todrop anything off. I pick up. There are a myriad of ways you can pitch in if you like.I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best Regards,Mark Arnowitz, your Junior [email protected]
