Tickets arc on sale bymembers of the Epworth League atSo cents. .Perhaps no play in the historya f t he Ame ri can s ta ge ha s had thehistory that has had "The Fool."Channing Pollock, the author, spent10 y ea rs l oo ki ng f or a p ro du ce r.T ime and a ga in i t was partly accepted and rejected or postponed.It was written for Shelley Hull, thebrilliant young author, who died justas it was to be produced. It wasdeclined with thanks by one big producer after ano th er . F in al ly , t heSelwyns bought "The Foo l, " andarranged to produce i t in Los An':'geles as a tryout. On that first night1\Jr. Pollock was approached in thelobby by a motion picture magnate,who saio, "What's all this t al k inyour play about t he Star of Bethlehem ?" Mr. Pollock said, "Doyou know what the S ta r o f Bethlehem i s? " " Su re ," said he. "It'sa star in the Mi lky \Va y. " Mr.Pollock explained that it was the~ t a r that rose over Bethlehem whenJesus was born, and tha t it symbolized the coming of Christ. "Well,"said he, "you ought to say s o i n t heplay' - People d on 't kno w a bo utthese things." And these were critics who were saying that it couldn'tsucceed. It succeeded. Night aftern ig ht i t pl ayed t o crowds o f silent,reverent people.Miss Mayo has g iv en i t in manychurches in place of the regularservice on Sunday nights.It presents the relation of Christt ia ni ty t o s oci et y i n s uch a thoro roughly absorbing , r ed -b loodedstory that anyone who hears i t c anh ar dl y fail to grasp more of thes igni ficance o f p resent -d ay p roblems.

    Mrs . B ean to Speak.The next meeting of the Women'sCommunity Club will be one of special interest, with Mrs. George E.Bean as the speaker. She will talk
