Sacramental Program Information Session 3.15pm Tuesday 20th June in school library. Term 2 ends 2.55pm Friday 23rd June. St Patrick’s School – A Nut Aware School.

Parents are requested to be diligent with items packed in lunch boxes.

Dear Parents,

Reports issued Thursday; Think growth! - It is

important to note that the learning taking place

every day in your child’s life is a journey. Your child

will be quite hard on themselves and it is important

for us as parents not to further compound this with

our comments. Conversations around

improvement should be growth based and in this

way we encourage the effort that they have

invested and the belief that they can improve. This

building of a self-belief that we can always

improve will set them up positively for the learning

to come in Semester 2 .

The positive effect of a parent’s engagement on

their child’s learning journey has been well

researched and documented. Engagement means

being involved and interested in a child’s learning.

As a parent, you are the first educators of your

children and therefore have a wealth of knowledge

that can help teachers provide the best instruction.

As always, please contact your child’s teacher if

you have any questions about your child’s report

and their efforts.

Talgai Art Show—Thank you to those family members and friends that were able to join Mrs Geyle and

Mrs Pitstock yesterday afternoon for

the ’Talgai Art Exhibition’. The

curriculum inspired art works were

created and curated by the Prep/Year

One students. The children were on

hand during the art show to guide

their family and friends through

creations ranging from wall hangings

to three dimensional interpretations

of Mr Partington’s red racing car.

Early Year’s Play Dates— In Term 3

we are once again looking to host a

play date with under fives from the

community. We are looking for two or

more parents to coordinate this

activity, as a way of strengthening our

ties with the young families of Allora.

I would be very keen to speak to any parents who might have some ideas regarding these play dates.

School News Guided Reading Strategy; Watch this Space! - we look forward to running some parent information sessions that will assist parents in supporting their children in skill development associated with reading. Stay tuned. Wednesday—State of Origin fundraiser— Last week one of our year four students, Samantha, had some very long pony tails chopped and donated to Variety. In support of Samantha’s efforts we’re going to have a combined ‘Wear your colours’ for State of Origin on Wednesday with a ‘Crazy Hair Day’. The proceeds of which will be donated to ‘Shave for a Cure’. Students will need to bring a gold coin donation and be in clothes that are suitable for physical education lessons.

Glengallan have had another action packed term of in-

tense effort and learning development. We’ve been so busy finishing off our summative assessment and it’s been great to see how far we’ve come. We’ve been leading the school with our involvement at the Trivia Night, being on standby for the Early Years Open Day, being involved with the Broncos Cup and the Central Downs Gala Days, and a visit to the Homestead to say Mass with the residents there. Miss Donnelly has come back from her inservice about digital technologies to teach us some new skills with coding and with Power Points and hyperlinking; we’re always learning! We can now turn our attention to holi-days, after a very successful term of learning!

Glengallan News End of Term

Lately, we’ve learnt to be persistent in our learning and to never give up. Our assessments can be challenging at times but we know that we are responsible for making sure that we keep learning and trying. It’s all to do with our persistent and positive attitude.

You Can Do It!

The most important homework set for Glengallan is that of reading. Reading with your child, even at this age, can be a wonderful time for

sharing and bonding. Time is running out! Don’t let this precious time to enjoy each other’s com-pany pass you by as they will be in secondary school all too quickly.

Did you know?

Congratulations to the following students: Jack Wright for his high standards of descriptive and creative writing. Ashlee

Henry received the Mary MacKillop Award last week for being helpful around the classroom.

What people are saying

What a relief to come across a program that preserves

the dignity of the child, maintains the self control of

both the parent and the child and is actually easy to

remember when memory is the first thing to go!

I realized quickly that the 1-2-3 Magic can be a

magnificent preventative measure that any parent can

use to avoid raising a child, who later down the line,

needs excessive discipline or grows out of control

Who is running it?

The presenters for this course are Stacey (provisional

psychologist) and Linda (family health support worker)

from BUSHkids Warwick who have completed

Parentshop’s 1-2-3 Magic® & Emotion Coaching
