• The Italian Secondary School “Niccolò Andria” is set in Massafra. It is specialized in teaching the normal curriculum of the National Secondary Schools with a focus on music and foreign languages.
• We are full centre of Trinity examinations.• We certificate our pupils with grades 1, 2,
3 and 4; we also certificate adult students with all GESE and ISE grades.
• Moreover, there are extra hours for teaching musical instruments: the violin, the guitar and the flute and there are classes of three foreign languages: English, Spanish and French.
• The school also promotes the study of ecology, environmental education. It organizes trips and projects to let the pupils discover the features of the soil, fauna and flora.
• The pupils are about 400, divided into three grades (1st, 2nd and 3rd). They are aged 10 to 14. We have some foreign pupils too, coming from Romania, Albania, Africa, etc…. We also teach students with impaired physical or mental abilities and students with special educational needs.
• The school is located in a suburban area on the fringe of the town where there are big apartment buildings and much poverty. On the other hand, there are also students coming from rich and well-educated families.

• The school is also an Adult Education Provider and covers an area of about 75.000 inhabitants. There are several courses for adult students: English, Spanish, ICT, local traditions, the choir,…The courses are led by experts and tutors.
• The socio cultural context of the adult centre is characterized by some matters common to the rest of the south of Italy :
• a low cultural level • the search for a job with
not appropriate professional and cultural competences
• the search for new competences in order to improve the personal curriculum
• the integration of foreigners
