Stephen Ministry

A Ministry of Christ caring for people through people.

“Let us not love with words, but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18

THE WORSHIP OF GOD 9:00am & 11:00am Service of Worship

Twenty First Sunday after Pentecost

Sing to the Lord a new song;

Sing to the Lord, all the earth. Psalm 96.1

Announcements / Welcome / Opening Prayer

Revive us again, fill each heart with Thy love; May each soul be rekindled with fire from above.

Hallelujah! Thine the glory! Hallelujah! Amen!

Hallelujah! Thine the glory! Revive us again.

Prelude And Lighting Of The Candles

Hymn of Praise UMH # 75

“All People That On Earth Do Dwell”

Affirmation of Faith I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven

and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Vir-

gin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead,

and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended

into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father

Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and

the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,

the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrect-

tion of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost as

it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world with-

out end. Amen! Amen!

Morning Prayer / The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy king-

dom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us

this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we for-

give those who trespass against us. And lead us not into tempta-

tion, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the

power and the glory forever. Amen.

Hymn Of Dedication UMH # 121

“There’s A Wideness In God’s Mercy”

Offering Of Ourselves And Our Gifts to God

Anthem “Til The Storm Passes By”

Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures

here below. Praise Him above ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son,

and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Scripture James 2:14-18; Ephesians 2:8-10

Sermon Dr. R. Allen Stewart

“Works Of Mercy”

Hymn Of Invitation UMH # 357

“Just As I Am”

Benediction As you have been fed, go to feed the hungry.

As you have been received – give.

As you have heard – proclaim.

And the blessing which you have received

from the Creator be always with you. Amen.

Postlude

The altar is open for individual prayer prior to our service starting.

Please pray for our nation, our community, our church

and services, and any other concerns you have.

Scripture James 2: 14-18

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have

faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? If a brother

or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one says to them,

“Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not

supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by

itself, if it has no works, is dead. But someone will say, “You

have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from

your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.

Ephesians 2: 8-10

By grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not

your own doing; it is the gift of God—not the results of works,

so that no one can boast. For we are what he has made us, cre-

ated in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared be-

forehand to be our way of life.
