ABOUT MONEYWEB

02 moneyweb

About moneywebTaking advice can be a daunting process, whether you are looking to take financial advice for the first time or you’ve taken financial advice in the past. Finances often take a low priority for many people because they are complex, but at Moneyweb our clients appreciate our ability to make the financial advice process both simple and enjoyable. We’ve been helping clients navigate complex financial markets for nearly two decades, and from those very early days, our business has evolved primarily through client recommendations.

Our philosophy has always been to provide a quality advice process, delivered alongside exceptional service, building business and client relationships along the way. Indeed, future generations of our private clients are now becoming clients themselves, and there is no higher accolade than that.

Based in North Yorkshire, we provide financial advice to individuals at all stages of their financial planning cycle. Whether you are assessing your finances for the first time or you want to know more about your retirement options, Moneyweb are able to help, wherever you are in the UK. We also understand that you

may have limited time available, therefore we offer telephone, email, office-based and home visits at a time to suit your needs.

Behind all successful companies, there are people, and at Moneyweb we invest heavily on ensuring we have the right team to manage your financial affairs and meet and fulfil your objectives. Whether it’s the professional investment and tax planning advice you have received from your adviser or the pleasant greeting and efficiency of service that you have received from our administration support staff, the same culture is embedded into the company.

OUR APPROACH

06

Our ApproachFinancial planning addresses a wide range of issues. We can help you with such issues as: investing a lump sum, deciding how much you need to save in order to retire comfortably, estate planning and saving Inheritance Tax, dividing up pension entitlements on a divorce or separation, getting the right types and amounts of life and health insurance, planning to pay school or university fees, and providing a general financial health check.

These are crucial issues for most people and their families, and it is very important for us to have a thorough understanding of clients’ aims, dreams and problems.

It is generally best to look at the whole of your financial affairs across the board, not just the issue that is of most immediate concern. It can sometimes be hard to deal with one particular issue in isolation because most of these financial planning areas are interconnected.

The financial planning process We have set out a six-step model for financial planning. It may help you to understand how this works to see the disciplined approach that Moneyweb take to providing our services.

6Monitor and review

the plan and the relationship with

the client.

The six key steps are for the adviser to:

1Establish and define

the relationship between the client

and the adviser 2Gather the data

about the client and agree their goals and expectations

4 Develop and

present the financial plan to

the client

5 Implement the

recommendations

3 Analyse and

evaluate the client’s financial

position

YOUR RISK PROFILE

07

Your risk profile Provided that our investment proposition is felt to be suitable for you based on your objectives and the results of our risk profiling discussions, we then identify the most appropriate attitude to risk out of the five risk definitions as detailed below:

Asset allocation and fund selection

The way in which investments are allocated between the main asset classes of shares, bonds and property will depend on your risk profile and your aims. Asset allocation is by far the main determinant of a portfolio’s risk and return. The more risk it is appropriate to take on, broadly the higher the proportion of the portfolio should be allocated to shares. Then it is a question of choosing the right funds within the asset allocation.

Other issues to consider are whether to invest in ethical or socially responsible funds, whether the funds should be held in a particular tax wrapper, whether to invest on a passive or active basis or even whether to outsource to a discretionary fund manager. Being independent, we are able to review the whole of the market and find you an investment opportunity that meets all of your requirements.

Cautious

Appropriate for the cautious

investor, one with a low risk tolerance

and/or a short time horizon. It is targeted towards the investor seeking investment stability and liquidity from their investable

assets. The main objective of the individual in this risk range is to

preserve capital while providing

income. Fluctuations in the values of

portfolios within this range are minor.

Moderate

Appropriate for investors who seek

relatively stable growth from their investable assets

offset by a low level of income. An investor in the moderate risk

range will have a higher tolerance for risk and/or a longer time horizon than

either of the previous investors. The main

objective of an individual within this range is to achieve

steady portfolio growth while limiting fluctuations to less than those of the

overall stock markets.

Moderately Adventurous

Appropriate for investors with a relatively high

tolerance for risk and a longer time

horizon. These investors have little

need for current income and seek above-average

growth from their investable assets.

The main objective of this risk range is

capital appreciation, and its investors

should be able to tolerate moderate fluctuations in their

portfolio values.

Adventurous

Appropriate for investors who

have both a high tolerance for risk and

a long investment time horizon. The main objective of

the aggressive risk range is to provide high growth for the

investor’s assets without providing current income.

Portfolios in this range may have substantial fluctuations in value from year to year,

making this category unsuitable for those who do not have an

extended investment horizon.

Moderately Cautious

Appropriate for the investor who

seeks both modest capital appreciation

and income from their portfolio. This investor will have either a moderate time horizon or a slightly higher risk tolerance than the most conservative

investor in the previous risk range.

While this range is still designed to preserve the investor’s capital,

fluctuations in the values of portfolios

may occur from year to year.

THE COST OF OUR SERVICE

08

The Cost Of Our Service Our fees are split into two main areas:1. The initial cost of advice, including setting up

any solutions recommended. 2. The ongoing fees and charges to service and

manage any recommendations.

1. Initial costs There are potentially two types of initial costs with any advice that we provide. These are firstly, the cost of our advice and secondly, the cost to implement the advice.

Cost of advice This will vary depending on the complexity and type of advice being offered. This will of course be discussed and agreed with you prior to commencing any chargeable work on your behalf. Please see our Tariff of Fees.

Implementation of advice – lump sum business and business that is transferred The cost to implement our advice will be dependent on the amount of investable assets available as detailed in the following table:

Investable Assets Percentage Fee

£0 to £99,999 4.00%

£100,000 to £349,999 3.00%

£350,000 to £499,999 2.00%

£500,000 to £999,999 1.00%

£1M + Bespoke terms

Paying by fee It is our normal company policy to be remunerated for our investment advice by way of a separate cheque, payable to our firm.

Paying by fee by way of deduction from the investment It is possible for you to agree to pay for our advice by way of a deduction of our fee from the investment amount sent to a fund manager or provider prior to its investment. Moneyweb is currently a VAT exempt company, and therefore there is no VAT chargeable at this stage on our service charges.

If this should change in the future we will notify you in writing.

Loyalty implementation fees for existing clients We are striving to develop lifetime client relationships and so if an existing Evolution client wishes to invest further monies with us after a 12 month period of being a client, we offer a loyalty rate for the additional invested monies as shown in the table below. This is at a rate reduction of 50% off our normal rate structure; a thank you to our existing clients for their continued loyalty.

Investable Assets Percentage Fee

£0 to £99,999 2.00%

£100,000 to £349,999 1.50%

£350,000 to £499,999 1.00%

THE COST OF OUR SERVICE

09

2. Ongoing Costs The ongoing costs that apply to our Evolution proposition are charged at a percentage of the value of assets under advice as detailed in the table below:

Investable Assets Percentage Fee

£0 to £99,999 1.20% (Subject to a minimum of £600)

£100,000 to £349,999 1.00%

£350,000 to £499,999 0.80%

£500,000 to £999,999 0.60%

£1M + Bespoke terms

The charges are calculated once a year at your agreed annual review date and are based on the value of your investable assets at that time.

You can elect to pay for your ongoing service using the following options:

n Annual payment by cheque, standing order, product charge (if available) or a combination of these options.

n Monthly payment by standing order, product charge (if available) or a combination of these options.

We will discuss and agree with you the most appropriate payment option to meet your individual circumstances and this is reviewed annually.

The agreement will continue until terminated, by notice given in writing by either you or us. Termination shall take place without penalty, subject to any outstanding fees being paid. All monies received up to this point will remain the property of Moneyweb.

Special projects We are happy to undertake specialist projects of work outside of the services included in our Evolution proposition. Where this is the case we will provide you with an estimated cost before undertaking any work on your behalf. Our fees will reflect the complexity of advice and will normally be based on a fixed rate for the work being undertaken. Please refer to our Tariff of Fees for further information.

Pay As You Go fees

There are no regular ongoing costs for this option, however, we will agree the costs of any work that you request on an individual basis.

Our fees will reflect the complexity and amount of work/advice required and will normally be based on a fixed fee for the work being undertaken. Please refer to our Tariff of Fees for further information.

We’ve been helping clients navigate complex financial markets for nearly two decades, and from those very early days our business has evolved primarily through client recommendations.
