However, there was no more surprising or out of the ordinary situation than arriving at school on Monday of last week to find an emu on the school oval. Mystery surrounds how the emu found it’s way to our school and it was also a mystery to the staff at the time how we should handle the predicament we found ourselves in. Thankfully, Kirsty from Bohollow Wildlife Shelter and Craig the Snake Catcher helped us out and Edward, Edwina, Eric, Evonne, Edna or any of the other names our special visitor was given is now being well taken care of. Let’s hope this special visit has been of value in inspiring our excited students with some creative work produced back in their classrooms. SCHOOL COUNCIL At our last School Council meeting, the decision was made to keep our school fees at the current total of $240 that is discounted to $220 if paid in full prior to February 28. However, because QKR has now become our method for school payments and collecting permission forms, the excursion levy will no longer be included as part of our parent payments for the beginning of the year. Rachel will work with any families who currently have Excursion Levy credit to ensure that credit is used for future payments. More information about Parent Payments for 2017 will be provided to all families before the end of term 4. A reminder that all 2016 accounts must be settled by December 16 this year. If you are having difficulty finalising your account, please make contact with the office before we contact you. iPad payments are also now due. Principals ReportGRADE SELECTION FOR 2017Forms are currently available from the main office for any parent who feels they have a legitimatereason to request special consideration for student placement next year. Any such request shouldbe based on medical, social, emotional or educational needs. Please refer to last edition’sNewsletter (available through Tiqbiz or the school website) for a more detailed outline of the ClassSelection Policy. Any requests must be handed in at the Office by tomorrow, Thursday 17th November Friday, 13th November.Late requests cannot be processed. Once we commence placing students into their proposedgrades we will be unable to make any changes. When we arrange classes we take into accountvarious things including: the child’s social, emotional, and physical stages of individualdevelopment; the children's ability to cope with change; the special learning needs of students and ensuring the demand on teachers are as balanced as possible across the year level. The classteachers take all of these variables into account. With so many variables in place, it is a difficult task but one we place great importance on.While it is appropriate to talk it over with your child’s teacher ALL final requests must go throughthe class request forms or our Assistant Principal, Dan O’Reilly. Parents, please be awarerequests from previous years are not taken into consideration. You are welcome to make thesame request again however we do not go back and consider previous requests.

PUNCTUALITY IS SO IMPORTANT!Once again I want to remind all parents of the need for students to have regular school attendance and to be at school on time each morning. I cannot stress enough how important it is for our children to be in the classroom ready to begin the day when the 9 am bell rings. This is the time when important announcementsabout the day are made and the whole-class focus for the first session of the day is explained by the teacher.Children who miss this are at a distinct disadvantage and miss the links with past learning that canmake all the difference in making a concept ‘click’. Consistent lateness makes it extremely difficultfor a teacher to do their job as they have to spend valuable teaching time explaining the set task toeach child as they come into the room. Please be mindful of this and try to get children to their classrooms on time.

Parents and FriendsParents and friends news..

As the year comes to an end it's nice to reflect back and acknowledge some

of the wonderful events which are co- ordinated by P & F.

Mini fair was again a huge success for but can't be done without the help of

the whole school community.

Mothers and Fathers Day stalls offered value for money and saw every child select the perfect gift!

Trivia night was a great fundraiser with thanks to buying tickets, donations

and the purchase of raffle tickets. We are very fortunate to have some generous families associated with

Orrvale P.S.Too Many Chiefs cider, Parklake, Everyday Supplies, Trelleys, Landmark,

Shepparton Printing Services and Furniture One.

Special thanks to Miss Rachel, who sourced most of our prizes from contacts near and far.

Also Thank you to the many parents who helped out at all the events, setting up and decorations. Without you our school wouldn't be as as wonderful as

it is.

We are now finishing off the year with a Christmas Raffle... tickets are available now and we are still accepting donations for prizes.

Parents and Friends welcome you to attend The Christmas Dinner
