2018 ANNUAL REPORT

Thanks to your dedication and support, 2018 was another awe-inspiring year for the animals in our care. 3,520 dogs and cats were united with loving families, 1,177 of which, became adoptable through our foster program. Our in-house clinic performed an outstanding 9,270 spay and neuter surgeries to help reduce pet homelessness, including 477 feral cats, free of charge, and 273 cats and dogs through our Mom’s Last Litter Program.

The Northwest Organization for Animal Help (NOAH) is dedicated to stopping the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable and treatable homeless dogs and cats. We are committed to high quality

spay and neuter programs available for low-income residents, family-friendly pet adoptions, humane education, and volunteer programs through our state-of-the-art facilities and Spay/

Neuter Center.

OUR MISSION

Babs was a young dog rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Texas. Upon medical evaluation at The NOAH Center, it was determined that both of her hips were dislocated, the result of a birth defect. She was in chronic pain and needed corrective surgery. To do that required raising $12,000 for the purchase of specialized surgical equipment (which will also benefit other animals in the future) and performing the procedure. Thanks to the amazing generosity of donors, Babs got the needed surgery, recovered fully and is now living pain-free in a loving forever home.

REDUCING PET OVERPOPULATIONSPAY/NEUTER

The NOAH Center’s spay/neuter clinic is one of the leading low-cost spay/neuter facilities in Washington State. Our team of veterinarians, veterinarian assistants, licensed vet techs, and clinic volunteers, works tirelessly to reduce pet overpopulation through our affordable spay/neuter programs.

In 2018, NOAH Clinic staff performed 9,270 spay/neuter procedures. This number includes NOAH animals, low-income family pets, Mom’s Last Litter participants and feral cats. Of those 9,270 spay/neuter surgeries, 273 were completed through Mom's Last Litter..

NOAH created thed Mom's Last Litter Program to reduce pet overpopulation in our local and surrounding communities. The NOAH Center will schedule through our low-income spay/neuter clinic, free of charge surgeries for the mom, dad (if available and owned by the same person) and the entire litter. After surgery the mom and/or dad is returned to the owner and The NOAH Center adopts the puppies or kittens to loving homes through our adoption program.

Every four-legged friend that arrives at NOAH receives a medical assessment, spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations and microchipping. If a dog or cat has special-needs, clinic staff will do whatever is neccesary to restore them back to health, even if it means emergency surgery. Every adoptable animal deserves a second chance.

TRANSFERS

The NOAH Center rescued 3,715 animals in 2018 through our transfer program. Animals were transported from 68 partner shelters located in Washington State and all across the United States, focusing on areas struggling with pet overpopulation. Some cats and dogs required extraordinary medical aid and care while others just needed time and patience to find their perfect family. Many were rescued from partner shelters that didn’t have the resources to care for them.

IN 2018, WE TRANSFERRED 3,715 ANIMALS TO NOAH. 975 DOGS, 627 PUPPIES, 757 CATS AND 1,356 KITTENS FOUND LOVING HOMES.

FOSTER

VOLUNTEERVolunteers work in every department and are vital to The NOAH Center’s success. In 2018, volunteers contributed over 50 percent of the work hours performed. Whether it is providing direct animal care, lending a hand with transfers, washing laundry, sterilizing surgical instruments, maintaining the grounds, or answering phones, volunteers are needed in every capacity and are the reason we can continue to save so many lives.

In 2018, over 118 volunteer foster families opened their hearts and homes to care for 1,177 puppies, kittens, dogs and cats. Foster families expand the walls of our shelter so we can save more lives. Foster volunteers care for puppies and kittens too young to be at the shelter, provide a space for a cat or dog to recover from surgery, and even help animals overcome behavioral issues by assessing and reporting how they act in a home environment. Since starting the foster program in 2011, our dedicated foster volunteers have rescued over 9,400 puppies and kittens.

Laugh Your Tail Off 2018 was an evening full of laughter, good food, great friends and amazing fundraising. An outstanding $112,000 was raised to benefit the homeless cats and dogs in our care. Thank you to everyone who participated!

In addition to supporting homeless pets and our spay/neuter clinic, bequests have also supported and provided funding for our state-of-the-art facilities and new equipment needed to save more lives.

The NOAH Center's Alumni Association Membership Program is available to anyone who has adopted a pet from

NOAH. Since its inception in 2016, this program has raised $97,490 to benefit homeless animals, and now has

more than 645 members. An alumni association membership makes a small contribution go a long way, and ul-
