I take this opportunity to welcome on board Mr. Chaitanya Brahmbhatt who will be looking into and heading the Gujarat state cluster. He has been a part of the Kamat Khandaan for over 3 years now and was heading the Ankleshwar unit successfully. I congratulate him on behalf of the entire company and wish him all the success in the new responsibilities bestowed upon him.

Based on the interactions with the Food committee, we also completed the introduction of the Chocolate Thick Shake. It will help plug the gap for Dessert items that we have in the menu. Roll out has been done at select outlets and food committee members outlets as a start. We hope that this becomes a hit among the customers as well.

Centralized One Stop Delivery LogisticsAn update on what I had spoken about in the last newsletter. After lot of hard work and dedicated effort, Ketan with the help and support of Satish, Abhijit, Kishore, Subhendu, Vicky and all of our dear Khandaan members has started the roll out of the centralized One Stop Delivery logistics. Achieving this herculean task wasn’t easy since both systems ran parallel for a while. I think the units still need to get disciplined about ordering in time so that they order in time to catch the truck which leaves as per the designated dates per month. But things are going good and many units have already started getting the benefits of the single central delivery.

Chef. Raju has also taken a new initiative to strengthen the entire Food team. He has added Ms. Smitha Pethe as the new Food expert in the team. Ms. Pethe has a background of Food Technology and has been a part of SM Foods (of Peppy Fame). She will be responsible of strengthening the entire quality check process of all the foods and has already begun working with us.

There were concerns regarding the inconsistencies in the taste of our filter coffee but it will now be consistent along with the tea. The entire system has also been revised to boost the profits and per cup cost has been brought down drastically as well. This is made possi-ble due to the reduced purchase cost of the Tea and Filter Coffee. So enjoy premium quality, famous Wagh Bakri chai, and Kamats Filter coffee at all outlets with the same great taste that will add profits in your pocket!!

On a Lighter NoteOn the point of Filter Coffee let me share with you a small incident. The coffee machine and the coffee was kept in my office during the trial of the machine. As a result of this, Me and Nishikant had grown quite addicted to the coffee. One day my wife Vidhi visited us at the office with my son Vyom. Vyom as usual, was enjoying himself in the office. I proudly told Vidhi, “Try this superb Filter Coffee, you’ll love it!” and so we ordered for the coffee. I eagerly waited for my wife to sip it. I wanted the pride of having introduced this excellent product in Kamats. I waited as she sipped. Waiting to hear here “WOW, this is great” instead I hear “Its ok, nothing that great” I said “what do you mean not that great?” I sipped it for myself and realized, she was right. Something was different, it was not as great as it normally is. I immediately went out of my cabin to Nishikant who looked at me and enquired “Sir, kuch problem hai, normal jaisa nahi bana?” I nodded and so we rushed to the machine. On enquiry we found that the team who was filling the machine was experimenting by using only 50 percent coffee powder, which was making it very milky and diluted. Satisfied we had found the problem. We rectified and then ordered a fresh 2 cups. Now I proudly had my wife taste it only to hear music to my ears when she said “Wow! This is great.”My satisfaction of hearing appreciation from my wife, can be your satisfaction of hearing not just from your wife, but every customer of your outlet. Thanks to our amazing Kamats Filter Coffee. Enjoy!

A Smart Financial MoveThe essence of good business lies in the effective management of funds. The views of the finance team of Kamat Khandaan coincide with this philosophy. We believe that it is extremely important to have a good internal control system to ensure efficient flow of funds. One effective internal control method is depositing the money in the bank on regular basis. This practice not only discourages employees from committing fraud and theft, but also keeps the management updated about the cash and the sales position. Also, the greater the amount of cash in hand, the higher will be the chances of human errors. This will ultimately increase the risk of losses. An operational advantage of depositing the sales money into the bank is that the company will then practice trading on credit basis, thereby maintaining a balance in the working capital. Let us all work towards a better business by ensuring timely deposits.
