Lord God, Almighty Father, creator of
mankind and author of peace, as we are
ever mindful of the cost paid for the liberty
we possess, we ask you to bless the mem-
bers of our armed forces. Give them cour-
age, hope and strength. May they ever ex-
perience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate heal-
ing. Be their power and protector, leading them from darkness
to light. To you be all glory, honor and praise, now and forever.
Amen

The safety and success of our military serving at home and abroad
defending our country should be prayed for daily. All should be recog-

remain free. Members of our parish family are requested to provide the
names of their loved ones so they can be remembered in our prayers.
To include their names in our prayer list please contact Carol Nasife

A Message from the Padre
On this Fourth Sunday of Advent, we light the fourth and final
candle of the Advent Wreath. This candle signifies the peace of God for all of us by
the birth of his Son on Christmas Day.
Yes, Christmas is the most joyful time of the year….it is a festive day for all Chris-
tians. But there is that sad reality that needs to be addressed, especially on how we greet one another during
the Christmas Season as seen by the secularized world that it is politically correct to wish each other “Happy
Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas.”
My dear friends, we do not seek to impose Christmas on anyone…but as Christians we should
celebrate and rejoice in the birth of Christ and not be afraid to say “Merry Christmas.” Remember this is
just not an ordinary time of the year for us, it is the Birth of Our Lord, the most important and joyful time of
the year. In fact, the message of our Gospel is to rejoice in the birth of the Emmanuel who brings to us the
good news of salvation.
So on this Fourth Sunday of Advent… let us rejoice proclaiming Merry Christmas…and thanking
God for the birth of his Son …for if Jesus had not come into this world, none of these joys would be present
in our lives.
Fr. Joe

A Prayer for Lighting
The Fourth Advent Candle
Lord Jesus Christ, who is, who was,
and who is to come. As we light our
fourth Advent candle, we pray for the vir-
tue of hope, that amid the trials and difficulties of this
world, we may keep our hearts fixed upon you. May your
grace enliven us, strengthen us, and defend us as we await
your coming in glory. Through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen

WORD OF LIFE December 2014
“Never tire of firmly speaking out in defense of life from its conception and do not be deterred from the
commitment to defend the dignity of every human person with courageous determination. Christ is
with you: be not afraid!”
~ Address of John Paul II to the Bishops and Apostolic Administrators
of Albania on their “Ad Limina” Visit, February 3, 2001
2001 Libreria Editrice Vaticana. Used with permission.
“We are facing an enormous and dramatic clash between good and evil, death and life, the ‘culture of death’ and the ‘culture of life’.
We find ourselves not only ‘faced with’ but necessarily ‘in the midst of this conflict’: we are all involved and we all share in it, with
the inescapable responsibility of choosing to be unconditionally pro-life.”
~Pope John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae, 28

Fourth Sunday
of Advent
As we close in on Christ-
mas, we begin to focus more
intently on plans we will
have to set aside. Maybe we
do not really have to make
one more trip to the store if
we have done what is essen-
tial for the coming celebra-
tion. One of those essentials
is “to belong to Jesus
Christ,” as St. Paul reminds
us.
Just as it is easy to get distracted by seasonal adver-
tising pitches and lose track of what is really necessary,
so can we easily overlook the simplicity of the Christian
message. If we allow ourselves to belong to Jesus
Christ, to build a relationship with him and seek his
mind in all that we do, then we will find the real peace
of this season.
EPIPHANY SERVICE JANUARY 6, 2015

PLEASE HELP OUR
RETIRED RELIGIOUS
Thank you!

because of the way you care for our
retired members,” writes a religious
brother. Your gift to last week’s col-
lection for the Retirement Fund for Religious benefits some
35,000 senior sisters, brothers and religious order priests. May
God bless you for your generosity!

and some of our seminarians of the Diocese of Tren-
ton.
If you are a faithful, single, Roman Catholic man

self whether God is calling you to be a priest, you are
cordially invited to attend this month’s Open House
Discernment meeting on December 28th, from 3:00
p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at The Church of the Sacred Heart

CATHOLIC CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN “To care is to share”

Moorestown, NJ 08057 seeks donations from caring people
who want to make a difference in the lives of hungry people in
our area. Please consider a tax deductible gift to our worth-
while cause. Bishop Fulton Sheen once said, “You can’t take it

World Meeting of Families
“Love is Our Mission:
the Family Fully Alive”
We are very excited about the news of Pope Francis’ visit
during the September 22-27, 2015 World Meeting of Families.
The incredible, world-wide popularity of the Holy Father will
make his attendance and celebration of Mass on the Parkway
on September 26th a big draw for Catholics and non-Catholics
alike from all over our region.
People are asking the Diocese if they will be able to attend.
The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is the host diocese and has
already begun the registration process for the weeklong events-
- except for the Papal Mass. We will have to wait for more
news about the Pope’s itinerary as it becomes available. Right
now, we do not have that information. As soon as the Diocese
hears, they will post it on their website, wwwdioceseoftren-
ton.org. For information currently available about the meeting,
