Jesus ascends on high, taking our human nature to the glory of Heaven, as our triumphant High Priest. From Heaven, He then clothes us with Power from on high by sending us the Holy Spirit. In this, He makes us one with Him, such that He is our Head and we are His members, and we are closer to Him than we could ever be if He were still on Earth. Thus, one with Him, we can ask the Father for everything in His Name and it will be granted to us. Our Blessed Mother especially teaches us how we are to live this new life in the Holy Spirit. It was she who especially knew how to ask the Father in the Name of Jesus for the Gift of the Holy Spirit. Her prayers won for the Holy Church this Sending from on high. Blessed Mary is entirely filled with the Holy Spirit and entirely one with Jesus, her Head. She is completely in union with Him, so that she prays with full confidence for all the gifts of salvation and thus, always subordinate to and dependent upon Jesus, is the true Mediatrix of All Graces for us. We celebrated her feast under this title on Friday. On Wednesday, we celebrate her under the aspect of her apparition at Fatima in Portugal, where her basic counsel to us was the constant use of the Holy Rosary. Mary teaches us to pray. She teaches us first of all to have complete humility and trust in our prayer. She acknowledges her nothingness ("Behold the handmaid of the Lord") and relies only upon the One Who has done great things for her. She knows that asking the Father in Jesus's Name means losing self in order to find our true selves in Jesus. She teaches us that the key to prayer is not to trust myself and to find our help only in the Name of the Lord. She then says, "Let it be done to me according to thy word." With this obedience to God, she teaches us that our life in the Spirit entails harmony between heart and life. She teaches us that our prayer is answered only if we live as faithful disciples of Jesus. Thus, we are living members of Christ, Who can pray through Him and with Him and in Him. If we are holy, we are as Jesus pray- ing before our Heavenly Father. This is the great lesson our Mother teaches us. Her holiness and obedience is the true secret to her powerful intercession. When she prays, there is no space between Jesus's Heart and her Immaculate Heart! Blessed Mother, in this month of yours, prepare our hearts to celebrate well the Ascension and Pentecost. Teach us to pray. Help us to live always as living members of your Son, in Whose Name we receive salvation from our Heavenly Father. Pray for me, Father Joseph Previtali Confessions Schedule Monday (Lunes) 6:00- 7:00 pm 8:45- 9:30 pm Tuesday (Martes) 7:00- 7:45 am Wednesday (Miércoles) 7:00– 7:50am Thursday (Jueves) 7:00– 7:50 am 5:30- 6:30 pm Friday (Viernes) 6:00- 7:00 pm 9:00- 10:00 pm Saturday (Sábado)4:00– 5:00pm

St. Thomas Aquinas teaches us about the Easter sacra-ments:

CONFIRMATION The second Sacrament is Confirma on. The ma er of this Sacrament is chrism made from oil, which signifies the bright luster of conscience, and from balsam, which signifies the odor of a good name; both of which are blessed by the bishop. The form of this Sacrament is: “I sign thee with the sign of the cross, and I confirm thee with the chrism of salva on, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.”[18] The minister of this Sacrament is solely the bishop.[19] It is not licit for a priest to anoint on the forehead with chrism those who are to be confirmed.[20]

THE EFFECT OF CONFIRMATION The effect of Confirma on is that the Holy Spirit is im-parted to give strength, just as He was given to the Apostles on the day of Pentecost. Thus, the Chris an must boldly confess the name of Christ. The one who is confirmed is anointed on the forehead wherein is the seat of fear; so that he will not blush to confess either the name of Christ or especially the cross of Christ, which to the Jews was a scandal and to the pagans fool-ishness. For this reason he is signed with the sign of the cross. ERRORS CONCERNING CONFIRMATION Certain of the Greeks erred concerning this Sacrament in saying that it could be administered by one who is only a priest. Against this it is said that the Apostles sent the Apostles Peter and John to impose hands upon those who had been bap zed by Philip the deacon, and they received the Holy Spirit. Now, the bishops of the Church are in the places of the Apostles, and in their place also do they impose hands when the Sacrament of Confirma on is administered.

ENDNOTES 18. “Amen” is omi ed in the Roman Pon fical. 19. The ordinary minister of Confirma on in the La n Church is the bishop. In virtue of canon 782, # 3, only Abbots, Prel-ates Nullius, vicars and Prefects Apostolic can confer this Sacrament validly and only within the confines of their own territory and during their term of office. Cardinals can con-firm validly anywhere. 20. A priest of the La n Rite who has a special indult granted by the Holy See may confirm Catholics of his own rite only, unless it is otherwise stated (Canon 782, # 4).
