"A widow in that town used to come to him and say, 'Render a just decision for me against my adversary.' For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, 'because this widow keeps bothering me I shall deliver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike me.'" - Lk 18:3-4b, 5

Excerpts from the Lectionary for Mass ©2001, 1998, 1970 CCD.

From the patriarchs to the early apostles, God comes to the help of all those who ask. Moses raises his staff to elicit God’s help when Joshua engages his opponent in battle. “Our help is from the Lord,” we sing in the psalm. Paul tells Timothy that God is with him in proclaiming the word. Jesus assures his disciples that God will respond if they are persistent. Let us be assured that we can continue to seek help from God today.

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

As we live out our life of faith, it is easy to lose heart and lose confidence in God’s power and effective presence. We can fall into apathy. Given the immensity of the concerns that abound, we feel powerless and can become unmotivated to persevere. To combat this weariness, Jesus tells his friends to pray always. Persisting in prayer allows us to find the determination, strength, and conviction to continue on course even when presented with difficulties. If we are determined in our pursuit of God, we will eventually find God breaking through our darkness with the light of His presence, gifting us with contemplative sight so that we can see as He sees and love as He loves. It is only when we take on the person of Christ that we are able, with God’s help, to touch the world’s pain and loneliness

Question of the Week: What can I do to carry out God’s mission in my life? Will I make time to pray persistently for guidance and support?

Please remember in your prayers those who

have asked for our caring support:

David DePina & Carol Almeida-Fortes

up a second collection for Equipment Maintenance. This collection allows us to upkeep equipment in our parish

(elevator, heating systems etc.).

Our Lady of the Assumption Church has 7 adults attending sessions to prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Bishop will confer the Sacrament on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Cathedral in Fall River.

If any other adult is interested in preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation at this time, and is not already a part of this small faith community, you may sign up now, but you will be placed in the next group of candidates in the Spring of next year. Let us celebrate in prayer those who are on the journey of full initiation into the Church.
