Dates to Remember

OLMC Music Ministry The Music Ministry at OLMC is looking to expand its Adult Choir. You are not required to read music or be a profes-sional singer at all. As long as you love to sing to the Lord, there is a place for you in our choir. Please note, that we are in particular need of male voices. The Adult Choir sings at the 12:15 mass and practices on Tuesday evenings following Novena. We are also in the process of forming our very own Junior Choir. The plan is for the choir to sing at the 10:45 a.m. Family Mass. A Junior Choir would add an enormous amount of vibrancy to our parish and promises to offer a very enriching experience for your child. The age range is approximately between 7 and 13 years of age. Consider this wonderful opportunity and register your child. If you are interested or have any questions, you may call Andrew at (347) 678-6702 or email, [email protected].

Religious Education Please Note... Registration for the 2013-2014 school year has begun. Information and forms have been given to the children. Forms are also available on our website. Please register as soon as possible, so that we can order books.

Welcome Father KevinWelcome Father KevinWelcome Father KevinWelcome Father Kevin

The newest member of our parish family is Rev. Kevin Schott. He is a life-long New Jersey resident who comes to us from Our Lady Queen of Peace in Maywood. Prior to his calling, he was a social worker. Fr. Kevin was ordained into the priesthood in November of 1990 and will be celebrating

23 years in the priesthood this year. His enthusiasm and love for the Church will be very wel-comed here at OLMC. He loves people, Liturgy and singing. You may often find him whistling or singing a tune as he is an avid lover of music. In a nutshell, he loves to have fun and make

the whole church going experience enjoyable for everyone. Welcome Fr. Kevin!

God our Father, We give you thanks and

praise for fathers young and old.

We pray for young fathers, newly embracing

their vocation; May they find courage and per-

severance to balance work, family and faith in

joy and sacrifice.

We pray for our own Fathers around the world

whose children are lost or suffering; May they

know that the God of compassion walks with

them in their sorrow.

We pray for men who are not fathers but still

mentor and guide us with fatherly love and ad-

vice.

We remember fathers, grandfathers, and great

grandfathers who are no longer with us but

who live forever in our memory and nourish us

with their love. Amen

Important Reminder… Food and beverages are not allowed in the Church. We have been finding trash of all kinds in the pews lately. Please respect our Lord’s House and kindly eat meals at home before or

after mass. Thank you for your cooperation.

A Prayer for Fathers

Food Pantry Many people only donate to food pantries at holiday times, but we want to thank you, for being so consistent all year round, with your generous giving. No matter what time of the year it may be, you have never stopped sharing with those less fortunate. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Donations to our Food Pantry con-sist of non-perishable foods: such as soups, sauces, pas-ta, rice, cereals, dry milk, canned vegetables, as well as toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, etc.) Please check expiration dates before donating food. If the food is out of date, kindly discard.

Protocol for Scheduling Events, Drives, Fundraisers, Etc. When planning events, drives, fundraisers and other church functions, please keep in mind that all scheduling must go through the Rectory Office either in person or over the phone. One of our staff members will gladly as-sist you in scheduling your event or in finding an ac-ceptable alternate date if there is a conflict. Please note: asking a Priest permission to hold a function, fundraiser, or drive at Sunday Mass does not secure a date. You still must contact the Rectory Office.

2013 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal

There are so many ways God is made visible in the world around us. Our Church of Newark, which serves Hud-son, Essex, Union and Bergen counties, sees God in the hundreds of thousands of people it takes care of every year by teaching, sheltering and caring for all who come to it for help. We can only offer assistance because of your generosity to the 2013 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. Won’t you please take a moment to fill out a pledge card? This sacrifice on your part will show that you too see the face of God in everyone who seeks help. Pen-cils and AAA envelopes are located in the church pews and in the back of the church. Thank you.
