Dear parishioners and friends:
HAPPY NEW YEAR….
As we begin a New Year people often make New Y ear’s Resolutions. Popular resolutions include to lose weight, to stop smoking, and to exercise more. All good ideas, but it is also important to make New Y ear’s Spiritual Resolutions. Below are some resolutions that Pope Francis recommends for us. Read through these and think how they may apply to your life. To grow closer to the Lord is the best resolution anyone can make. What can you do to grow closer to the Lord as we begin a new year?
The New Year’s Resolutions recommended by Pope Francis: 1) Don’t Gossip: For many, this is a habit. The Pope reminds us that gossiping is an evil activity that often tears others down and hurts a person’s reputation. 2) Finish your meals: He reminds us that we live in a “culture of waste” and so many in the world go hungry every night. 3) Make time for others: Try to find ways to care more for your family, neighbor, co-worker, and classmate. 4) Choose the more humble purchase: The Pope preaches against materialism. “Certainly, possessions, money, and power can give a momentary thrill, the illusion of being happy, but they end up possessing us and making us always want to have more, never satisfied. ‘Put on Christ’ in your life, place your trust in him, and you will never be disappointed!” 5) Meet the poor in the flesh: It is wonderful to donate to charity, but try to meet the poor in the flesh by volunteering with our St. Vincent de Paul Team or another charitable organization. 6) Stop Judging others: Pope Francis condemned gossip above and he also warns against judging another person and the sin of prejudice. Francis urges us “to keep watch over ourselves.” “Let us not forget that hatred, envy, and pride defile our lives!” 7) Befriend those you disagree with: There are so many harsh words spoken by political leaders and talk show pundits in our society today. Try to see the person of Christ in everyone, even a person you do not agree with. 8) Make commitments, such as marriage: So many young people live together without the commitment of marriage. Don't be afraid to say “forever.” Pope Francis advises the youth, for instance, not to fear marriage. Also, if you married after a difficult divorce perhaps you can talk to a priest about the process of annulment. 9) Make it a habit to “ask the Lord.”: Turn to the Lord every day in prayer, seek the Lord’s guidance and help. 10) Be Happy: A true Christian, the Pope says, “exudes joy.” A joy that comes from an encounter with Christ and the knowledge that he is loved and saved by Jesus. I pray you and your family have a Healthy and Joyful New Year.
God Bless, Fr. Vince
Queridos feligreses y amigos:
feliz. Padre Vicente

The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and
Joseph Stewards Forgive
“…as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must forgive.” - COLOSSIANS 3:13
Forgiveness – one of the hardest things for people to
do. It’s amazing how long we can hold a grudge or be angry with someone. As we celebrate the feast of the
Holy Family, take this opportunity to act in Stewardship and give the gift of forgiveness to
someone - maybe someone in your family, maybe a friend, maybe a co-worker or neighbor or,
maybe yourself. Pick up the phone or text someone right now.

Students were excited to wear their pajamas to school and have breakfast together which included their favorite
