Our Lady of Fatima September 15, 2019

La Parábola de la Misericordia Jesús cuenta estas parábolas como respuesta a las murmuraciones de los fariseos y de los escribas que despreciaban a los que eres como ellos: “este recibe a los pecadores y como con ellos.” La primera parábola es la de la oveja perdida. Jesús es ese pastor que ha venido a buscar y a encontrar a las ovejas perdidas de Israel. Aquel que carga sobre sus hombres al que ha sido marginado, despreciado, mal tratado. Aquel que se a legra y hace fiesta por cada pecador que se arrepiente. La segunda parábola es la de esa mujer que se esfuerza por encontrara la moneda que se ha perdido (“enciende una lámpara,” “barre la casa,” “busca con cuidado”) Jesús tiene muy clara la misión que su Padre le ha encomendado: “Yo no he venido a llamar al os justos, sino a los pecadores, para que se conviertan,” y se empeña en realizarla. Por eso se acerca a los pecadores, come con ellos, les ofrece su amistad, los libera. . . esto, por supuesto, es motivo de alegría. Una alegría que Jesús quiere compartir con todos: “Alégrense conmigo, porque ya encontré. . “ No sabemos la expresión o reacción de los escribas y fariseos al escuchar estas parábolas, pero el mensaje es claro: Dios es misericordioso y quiere que todos se salven. Por si fuera poco, Jesús narra una parábola más: la del hijo prodigo. En esta parábola descubrimos a un padre que espera paciente el regreso de su Hijo y cuando lo ve volver, corre hacia el, lo abraza y lo cubre de besos. No hay regaño, no hay reproche, hay vestido y sandalias nuevas, comida para todos y fiesta grande. Todo es canto y alegría, a no ser por el hermano mayor que se enoja y no quiere participar en esta fiesta. Esta actitud del hermano mayor, ciertamente, es la actitud que toman los escribas y fariseos que cuestionan a Jesús por recibir a los pecadores y comer con ellos. Jesús, como el padre bueno, se acerca a estos para que dejen esa postura y se abran a la misericordia.

The Parable of Mercy Jesus tells these parables in response to the murmurings of the Pharisees and the scribes who despised those who were like them: "He receives sinners and as with them." The first parable is that of the lost sheep. Jesus is that shepherd who has come to find and find the lost sheep of Israel. He who carries on his men he who has been marginalized, despised, badly treated. He who is happy and celebrates for every sinner who repents. The second parable is that of that woman who strives to find the coin that has been lost ("light a lamp," "sweep the house," "search carefully") Jesus is very clear about the mission that his Father has entrusted to him : "I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to convert," and insists on doing it. That is why he approaches sinners, eats with them, offers them their friendship, frees them. . . This, of course, is cause for joy. A joy that Jesus wants to share with everyone: “Rejoice with me, because I already found. . “We do not know the expression or reaction of the scribes and Pharisees when they hear these parables, but the message is clear: God is merciful and wants everyone to be saved. As if that were not enough, Jesus tells another parable: that of the prodigal son. In this parable we discover a father who waits patiently for the return of his Son and when he sees him return, he runs towards him, hugs him and covers him with kisses. There is no scolding, there is no reproach, there are new clothes and sandals, food for everyone and a big party. Everything is song and joy, except for the older brother who gets angry and does not want to participate in this party. This attitude of the elder brother, certainly, is the attitude taken by the scribes and Pharisees who question Jesus for receiving sinners and eating with them. Jesus, like the good father, approaches these to leave that posture and open to mercy.

It was good to join with you and members of your parish for a faith-filled celebration. Thank you also for the gift and hospitality that you presented to me on that occasion. I appreciate not only these, but also your hard work in building the parish. I continue to commend you for the good work you have doing with the people of Passaic, and I pray that the Lord will continue to bless the Diocese of Paterson with fine priest like yourself. Me dio mucho gusto celebrar con usted y los miembros de su parroquia en una celebración llena de mucha fe. Gracias también por el regalo y hospitalidad que me obsequiaron en esta ocasión. Aprecio mucho esto y también sus esfuerzos para hacer un gran trabajo en construir la parroquia. Continúo aplaudiendo su buen trabajo que hace con la comunidad de Passaic, y oro para que el Señor continúe bendiciendo la Diócesis de Paterson con más sacerdotes buenos, así como usted. The Diocese selected 103 individuals, couples or families to receive the award to express gratitude and appreciation to those who unselfishly

give of themselves for the building up of God’s Kingdom

We congratulate those who received the Vivere Cristus Est(Christ is life) award this year. Bishop Arthur Serratelli awards every year a member or a couple, out of many in each parish. This award recognizes active members in the parish and this year Cecilia & Fernando Ramirez were chosen to receive this award from the hands of the Bishop. Let us keep in our prayers this couple and their family so that God will continue to be their guide to keep them united and always project the love of Christ through their service for others and this parish.

Felicitamos a los que este año recibieron el reconocimiento de Vivere Cristus Est (Cristo es vida). El Obispo Arturo Serratelli cada año reconoce a un miembro o una pareja de muchos candidatos de cada parroquia y les da el reconocimiento como miembros activos en la parroquia, este año se escogió a Cecilia & Fernando Ramírez como la pareja para recibir el reconocimiento por manos del Obispo.
