“While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
John 9:5
My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,
I would like to continue on my theme of a few nice things to share and
celebrate these days.
Let us all pray for and welcome personally, when we have the chance,
our new Auxiliary Bishop of Miami, Peter Baldacchino. I was happy to
have the chance to share some time with him while on the retreat with
the priests of the Archdiocese of Miami earlier this month. His
ordination was beautiful and powerful in the Spirit. I am sure he and
especially his family from Malta were deeply touched by the genuine
joy and warmth that the people of Miami shared with him that day. He
too seems to have a very warm and engaging personality. I look
forward to the years ahead with him in Miami
As I am sure our brothers and sisters in St. Stephen and St. Boniface are
looking forward to the blessed years ahead with their new pastors! I
was so happy to be able to be present for the installation of both
Fr. Patrick Charles, as pastor of St. Stephen, and Fr. Fernando Orejuela,
as pastor of St. Boniface. To become a pastor and to receive a new
pastor is a very big deal and we know them both as fine priests who will
care for their people in Christ with genuine affection. Congratulations!
Finally, here at Our Lady of Lourdes we have received Archbishop
Wenski’s approval for the relocation and renovation of our baptistery.
As you know we are far too large a parish family to use our original
marble baptismal font at its current location in the back of the main
church. The artisans from Granda in Madrid have designed a beautiful
new baptistery for us in the open space at the front of the church just to
the side of the Tabernacle and have included the use of our original font
in the plans. It is the success of our work together this year at the
Festival that makes it possible for us now to connect the missionary
work of those who have gone before us at Our Lady of Lourdes to that
of those who will continue the work of Christ here long after we have
been called home.
God is good.

Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary
We consecrate ourselves in order to be more devoted to the Lord and His Blessed Mother. It helps us grow in
holiness. It is a method of drawing closer to Jesus. It is a lifestyle of complete abandonment and entrusting our-
selves to Mary's care, to offer ourselves more fully to Christ and be formed into "other Christ's." For more infor-
mation contact - Edwin and Charo Rojas - (305)254-3448 - (786)216-2607 or [email protected]
Follow up meetings: We meet every THIRD Tuesday of every month in the expansion room. Anyone is wel-
come to join; Bilingual//Women of all ages//Young Adults//etc.

the lordship of Jesus Christ. CFC reaches out to families through its various ministries: Couples for

Food Pantry of Saint Francis of Assisi The mission of the Food Pantry is to collect and provide canned goods and non-perishable foods for the needy families of our parish
community. Every year in November, the pantry hosts a Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, benefiting more than 350 pre-selected families.
Along with a turkey, they receive green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing, rice, black/red beans and fruit. This giveaway is
made possible through donations from local businesses and organizations, and the generosity of parish members. We encourage and in-
vite all parishioners to participate in this solidarity campaign by bringing non-expired canned goods and non-perishable foods to the
church, using the wooden bins located at every church entrance.

Respect Life Respect Life exists to uphold the sanctity and dignity of each human life from conception to natural death. We are a ministry of the
Archdiocese of Miami, faithful to the Holy Father and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. We work in union with the Respect Life
Sunset office. We seek to implement the National Conference of Catholic Bishops' Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life activities.
We are committed to respond to all issues with respect to the dignity of each person. We seek to support our brothers and sisters who are
most defenseless and most vulnerable: the unborn, the elderly, the incurably ill, the marginalized, the children and the youth.
We pledge to live and spread God's teaching about creation and the sacredness of life. Promote pro-life changes in our society and laws.
Give a voice to the unborn. Communicate God's compassion and forgiveness to post-abortion women (Project Rachel).

Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads men and women to join together to grow spiri-
tually by offering person-to-person services to the needy who live within the parish community boundaries. Some of our services include food,
medicine, rent assistance, information and referral services to government agencies and programs, utilities and thrift store referrals. Funding is
raised through coffee and donuts, and our Walkathon, held in September of every year. We also receive funds from Secret Collections, Contrib-
uting Members, and a share in the Church's Poor Box.
Our list of services is endless. "No work of Charity is foreign to the Society."

We need Jesus in the Eucharist for our very survival and renewal. When
we spend time in the presence of Jesus in the
Eucharist, we are energized and empowered to love and serve God and others. The same Jesus who
once walked our earth continues his ministry of love, healing,
repairing, and restoring our souls while exposed in the Blessed Sacrament.

Will your estate be eaten up
by taxes? It does not have to
happen. A planned gift can
help you avoid gifting the
state when you did not intend
to, and provide a charitable
gift to Our Lady of Lourdes
Parish. Help preserve our
Catholic heritage through a
planned gift. Contact the
Office of Planned Giving at
