raising half a million dollars in five years, to raising one millions dollars a year within the next 10 years. We are confident The Success Foundation Serving Greeley-Evans Schools will meet this goal. Why?

All of our achievements have been made possible by the generosity of you, our donors –the caring communities of Greeley and Evans who make our vison a reality:Our Kids. Our Community. Our Dreams.

My 6 years of involvement with The Success Foundation comes to a close with my retirement as the executive director in May. I am extremely proud of our education foundation and leave with confidence it will thrive. In 2015 The Success Foundation funded 8 teacher grants totaling $21,477. One example of the great things happening through grants is the work of the Greeley Young Author’s Project, a joint project of Central, West and Northridge High Schools. In its 5th year, it creates a collaboration among six high school teachers, a UNC professor, immigrant and refugee high school students, and UNC undergraduates. The students get a real sense of empowerment as they share their stories and appreciation for their cultural heritage, their home country, and language. For many of them, it’s the first time that they’ve been able to reflect and write down their own personal history and then share it with an audience. Talking about their histories, their families, their home countries, and their journey to the United States empowers these newcomers. The ability to write their stories down to be included in a published book provides a unique sense of accomplishment and achievement.

2015-16 Educational Grants – Supporting individual teacher innovation

Technology to support individualized learningIn 2015 The Success Foundation continued its support of blended learning, which allows teachers to use educational technology to individualize learning for each student. Community donations allowed the Foundation to add 15 additional iPads and 160 Chrome Books and Acers to the learning options available to students in District 6 middle and K-8 schools. Blended learning combines teacher-led instruction with digital content customized to each student’s needs and abilities. This personalization is especially needed in District 6 with a wide range of student abilities, needs, and life circumstances. The Success Foundation iPad/Blended Learning Project has supported 3300 students in grades 6-8. Principals, teachers, students, and classroom observers in District 6 report that blended learning has had a dramatically positive effect on student engagement. Students who are interested in school do better academically and are more likely to graduate from high school. Student assessments are beginning to show increases in academic achievement in blended learning classrooms.
