9. Curiosities1. Why do irons have a triangle shape?Because, that way, the wide part can iron large clothes and large parts of clothes; and the narrow end or tip can iron small clothes or small parts.

2. Irons existed in the 4th century, but the name “iron” began in the 18th century.

10. Personal Comments

• Irons keep clothes looking good and new for a long time.

• In the future they will be cold not hot; they will work with solar power instead of electricity; and they will work alone, like robots, without a person: they will be intelligent.

• Irons have evolved a lot since the 4th century. In the past women had to be very strong to hold an iron because irons were very heavy.
