CASE STUDIES
1. CONSULTANCY: BURO HAPPOLD Buro Happold sponsored the WAN Effectiveness Awards in 2010, 2011, and have just renewed for 2012. The multi-disciplinary consultancy wanted to launch an initiative that would position them at the forefront of effective design, highlighting the importance of gathering and analysing data, enabling future designs to benefit from the findings in a tangible, measureable process. This process adds significant value for clients in a difficult marketplace.
WAN also utilised a pre-planned event at MIPIM to present the 2010 award, thus maximising exposure at minimal cost.
Gavin Thompson, Buro Happold Chairman said at a recent WAN AWARD jury session; “This is exactly where we want to be.”
2. EVENT: BAU 2013
BAU 2011, the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems sponsored the WAN Product of the Year category in 2010 and 2011. The organisers wanted to increase international participation of the Munich based bi-annual event, which was still predominantly European.
WAN achieved this on two fronts; the first was to create a satellite nucleus of awareness in London to tap into the city’s vibrant international architectural community. This was accomplished by means of London based jury sessions, a pop-up display and reception of the shortlisted entries at Buro Happold’s gallery in central London. Over 80 architects attended the event from leading international firms.
Secondly, participation in the Product Awards provided a valuable international conduit for BAU enabling them to engage with product manufacturers around the world. The awards specifically focus on innovative and breakthrough product technology and in particular, products and materials, which ties in perfectly with BAU’s, target market.
BAU 2013 are sponsoring the WAN Product of the Year Award 2012.
3. SOFTWARE VENDOR: AUTODESK Autodesk sponsored a series of podcasts broadcast throughout 2011 to highlight the advantages of their Revit BIM software solution. The Q and A sessions with architects, project managers and Autodesk representatives discussed specific challenges faced on projects and delivered a range of quite complex information in a relevant context and an easy to digest format.
The podcasts were also published through the WAN app channel which enables architects to absorb information on the move, when they generally are under less pressure and can better focus. WAN currently has over 40,000 app subscribers.
Autodesk are planning a further series for 2012.
4. PRODUCT MANUFACTURER: CORUS KALZIP Kalzip work on some of the most significant construction projects in the world. Sponsoring the Urban Design Award enabled them to communicate the size and scale of projects they work on. A focused technical feature on the Louisiana Superbowl, with interviews with the architect and Kalzip technical experts showcased the high level of technical expertise and knowledge.
The podcasts were also published through the WAN app channel which enables architects to absorb information on the move, when they generally are under less pressure and can better focus. WAN currently has over 40,000 app subscribers.
