You can get to know the sights and attractions, the history and the modern side of Oulu through a variety of free of charge guided walks during the

summer. The most photographed attractions are the Ajan kulku sculpture that is located by the City Hall and the Bobby at the Market Place (Tori-polliisi) statue in the Market Square. The observation tower at Tietomaa

Get to know the way of life, the environment, tools, housing, trading and beliefs of the Stone Age. The authentic prehistoric items mainly come from the archaeological excavations in the Kierikki area and prove that during the Stone Age, Kierikki was a thriving trading community. The Stone Age village was recreated based on information gathered from the archaeologi-cal excavations on site. Similar settlements existed on the sandy banks of the Iijoki in the Kierikki region as far back as 5,000 to 6,000 years ago. The museum also offers hotel and restaurant services.

The plans of the church were drawn up by master builder Matti Honka and the construction was overseen by master builder Jaakko Suonperä. The biblical paintings in the church were painted some ten years after its completion by Mikael Toppelius (1734–1821). If the paintings were placed in a line, they would stretch some 150 metres.
