OU GEMINORUM

Welcome back commanders for a new in depth survey of the bearings and activities of one of Felicia Winters’s control systems! Last issue focused on the distant LP 417-213 sector; today I want to present to you its closest neighbour, located only 16 Ly away and bordering Hudson territory, as well as being a jump or two away from Sirius owned lands

At the first glance, the Geminorum sector distinguishes itself by exploiting a large amount of extraction and refinery oriented systems, some of which are highly specialised. The two major industrial centres present polarise the flow from these systems, which reflects a consistently High demand for ores and cheap machinery, contributing to the region’s appeal to Miners and Traders dedicated to selling metals, while the large amount of ringed systems and the political diversity makes it a good hunting ground for bounty hunters and mercenaries.

We penetrate here deep into the Gemini sector. Notable stars from the constellation are contained or within reach of the control sphere, such as Castor (Beta Geminorum), one of the brightest stars visible from Earth. A little detour over there is well worth while as it is a quite elegant group of stars orbiting close to each other. Polux (Alpha Geminorum), its historical companion, is located not too far away.

Ou Geminorum is located in what I call the “Extraction Belt”, a long strech of systems of which the economy focuses largely on the trade of metals and located in the rim of Winters space that faces the unknown. High Tech Centers (HTC) in that area are rare: in fact, none at all are established in this sector. Nandjabinja (of the LP 417-213 sector) is the most convenient HTC of the neighbourhood, located one jump away from 15 Geminorum (13.07 Ly).

The exploited systems are all scattered near the edge of the control sphere, and can be grouped into three clusters (use screenshots for help, p7-8):

- the bottom one facing away from RHEA and towards Sirius corp. contains Ross 42, 111 Tauri, G 97-55 and Dvoruba.

- the middle cluster is nearest to the Nandjabinja HTC and includes 15 Geminorum, 37 Geminorum, LHS 1857, Toog and LP 421-7.

- the top contains the somewhat isolated LP 255-11 and G 109-55 systems.

Cartographic data of all systems using ADS and DSS amounts to over 400’000 CR when sold to RHEA. Best sellers were:

- G 97-54, worth 116’000 CR. Three planets stood out as immensely valuable:- G 97-54 AB1 (27’230 CR)- G 97-54 AB2 (27’705 CR)- G 97-54 AB4 (11’457 CR)

- G 109-55, worth 57’000 CR. It contains a row of seven valuable metallic planets, G 109-55 B 1 to 7, worth about 4’700 CR each

- Dvoruba, worth 41’000 CR. Two water worlds were sighted but only one had an appropriate atmospheric profile:

- Dvoruba 2 (23’325 CR)- LHS 1857, worth 41’000 CR. The value of each planet is spread out a bit more

evenly, though this one stood out:- LHS 1857 1 (11’257 CR)

(Top) The sector might surprise by its sheer amount of ringed system. Toog 2 is depicted here with its closest companion, an atmospheric ice world dancing dangerously close to a giant hoop of rocks

(Left) An archipelago large enough to have snowy mountains stands out in the gorgeous strech of oceanic water covering Dvoruba 2, a high value uncharted water world. (Bottom-left) Haigneres City, home to the local ruling faction stands out with gloom, in contrast to the peaceful sight of the OU Geminorum binary system, and the immensely populated world the station orbits.

(Bottom-right) The Mars-like 37 Geminorum 5’s mighty red hue is catchy to the eye as one approaches it. From Utley City, the red planet is even more gorgeous, seen here as a reflection on a flawlessly clean canopy.

Page 4: OU Geminorum Analysis

(Top) G 85-52 C and D are two brown companion dwarfs lost in the middle of nowhere. 250’000 Ls separates them from G 85-52 A, itself a timid M star. G 85-52 B, the nearest companions of the two L-type dwarfs (visible here between the two of them) and about the same distance to the primary star, is the beacon of this quite lonely place.

(Middle-left) G 85-52 B, the twin brother of G 85-52 A, while fuel scooping. The two brown dwarfs mentioned earlier are bright enough to be seen through the hot atmosphere, a good measure of their proximity.

(Middle-right) Samokutyayev Orbital and its bright lights while within 111 Tauri 2’s penumbra.

(Bottom) Colonies of G 109-55 have focused on a mini planetary system orbiting the stellar companion of the main sun, a shiny red dwarf - G 109-55 B - near the centre of the picture. All the installations are military grade outposts and are located close to the red dwarf. Farther away, however, can be found a pair of two tiny planets incredibly close to each other, overviewing the entire system. Notice the Tarantula nebula above G 109-55 A

Page 5: OU Geminorum Analysis

OU Geminorum is a major agro-refinery hub, clustered with outposts and orbital stations. Cartwright Terminal specialises in industrial materials and the large amount of demand and supply guarantees incredibly competitive rates. Super conductors can be sold to the two main industrial centres of the sector with benefit margins exceeding a whopping 1450 CR/t. Gold, Tantalum, Indite and Beryllium, on the same trade route, will sell for benefits of over 1000-1100 CR/t.

Haigneres city on the other hand serves as a modest agricultural platform, and will sell Coffee and Tea to the hungry workers of Cartwright terminal for 435 and 480 CR/t. respectively. The massive size of the planet it orbits will require some time for your ship to reach decent super-cruise speeds.

15 Geminorum and 37 Geminorum are the two biggest industrial centres and as such, attract an enormous amount of extraction traders and miners from all over the sector and even beyond: both will pay great money for valuable metals.

15 Geminorum though quite smaller that its rival, is advantaged by being located one jump away from Nandjabinja - an HTC from the LP 417-213 sector (read report #1)- and having refineries that sells every type of minerals available on the market. Indite and Bertrandite are exported to the nearby 111 Tauri, for slightly over 400 CR/t. benefit. Same for G 97-54, and LP 255-11 although located over 20 Ly.

There seems to be quite the mafia trade happening in the greatly inhabited space of 37 Geminorum, where narcotics, guns and slaves of imperial origin are often smuggled in and out, sometimes in the form of high paid missions. Personal Weapons are currently on sale at Stairs Terminal. They can be legally traded at OU Geminorum (Cartwright Terminal) and Ross 42, both experiencing political strife. Imperial Slaves are sold out in the open at Frechet Ring, Hinz Station and Utley City.

111 Tauri has the particularity of sitting between OU Geminorum and LP 417-213’s sphere of influence; both stations located within are identical in terms of supply and demand, and serve as good intermediate step for travellers heading to Nandjabinja (Palladium, 1000 CR/t. and Super conductors, 850 CR/t.).

Only 6 Ly away is Ross 42, an industrial centre selling all sorts of machineries. Pythagoras hub, sitting only 8Ls away from Ross 42 A, is a bit of a contraband heaven, whereby many can be legally sold including Narcotics, Tobacco, Combat Stabilisers and any kind of weapons, including those manufactured from 37 Geminorum (around 500 CR/t. profit).

LP 255-11 and G 97-54 are notable for being amongst the best buyers of 15 Geminorum’s minerals.

Aksyonov Terminal from G 97-55 sells high-end metals, some of which are sought at LP 255-11’s Burbank Port (Palladium, 1000 CR/t. benefit) both 21.10 Ly apart. Gold and Beryllium from either places will sell very well at the 15/37 Geminorum industrial hubs (1000-1100 CR/t. profit from Aksyonov, 800-950 CR/t. from Burbank), thus completing one of the best trade rings of the sector.

CMDR DR.BEBOP WSSR#2 Page 5

ECONOMY:

Page 6: OU Geminorum Analysis

All the other systems have economies that are mostly oriented towards selling metals to 15/37 Geminorum but are poor importers of goods, except for certain highly sought high tech items. A trade ring can be successfully completed by selling Bertrandite at Nandjabinja - either directly from 15 Geminorum or taking one extra step by traveling through 111 Tauri - selling Performance Enhancers to the extraction/refineries system in question then, finally, sell high end metals back to the 15 Geminorum starting point.

Less than a 18 Ly jump away from Nandjabinja are LHS 1857 and LP 421-7. Each will buy the meds previously mentioned for 1000/750 CR/t. profit respectively. The 15/37 Geminorum industrial complex can be then easily reached in a single jump where Beryllium and Gold can be sold for over 1000 CR/t. profit.

A trip to Togg or Dvoruba will instead require one or two extra jumps before you can sell their metals to 15 Geminorum, limiting their interest. So will G 109-55, except its location right next to the Palladium hungry LP 255-11 mentioned earlier makes it worth while traveling there (Palladium, 1000 CR/t.). 15 Geminorum can then be reached easily from LP 255-11.

Rare Goods Report: No rare goods were found within or near the control sphere.

Contraband Trade Report: Drugs and weapons are spreading like wildfire. Most missions offered at 37 Geminorum, which acts like the gangster headquarters of the neighbourhood are gangster related: drugs/weapons smuggling (some being quite well paid given how easy they are, ie 200’000 CR reward for smuggling 10 tons of narcotics to 15 Geminorum). Slaves of imperial origin are even being sold on the open market. OU Geminorum and Ross 42 will buy your crack and guns, no questions asked.

Sector-wide best-seller: Beryllium, sold at a whopping 1500 CR/t. profit from Hurston Orbital (OU Gem) to Ericsonn Port or Gantt station (15 Gem)

The OU Geminorum sector can be subdivided into three clusters. Systems within each cluster can be travelled to in a single jump when the vessel is equipped with a FSD graded for 15 Ly jumps. (Top) shows the one bordering Sirius Corp. Included are: Ross 42, G 97-54, 111 Tauri and Dvoruba. Nandjabinja is located to the right (out of frame). (Bottom) shows the dense middle segment, slightly more elevated than the previous one relative to OU Geminorum, and closer to the LP 417-213 control sphere. Included: 15 and 37 Geminorum, LP 421-7, LHS 1857 and Toog. Susanoo, LHS 1794 and Nandjabinja all belong to LP 417.

Pressure from superpowers is less obvious that it’s LP 417-213 neighbour, currently experiencing violent undermining and which might be soon facing the harsh and unstoppable reality of turmoil. Here, no systems are being contested, and the control system sees moderate PvE/PvP opposition. The presence of a market for imperial slaves and weapons bearing the Alliance insignia are the more insidious form of superpower interference to Felicia Winter’s control and values, and stand as a measure of the strategic relevance of OU Geminorum: that of being a densely inhabited sector with good trading opportunities, wealthy economies, and siting near the borders of Sirius corp. and Hudson Federal Space. Overall, a very valuable outpost that should be defended.

OU Geminorum (High Security, 7.7 Billion inhabitants, 11CC)

The most influential and successful party of the region, the OU Geminorum Life Corp. sits on top of the hill (43.8%) and is currently expanding towards the small Toog refinery, a costly manoeuvre that nevertheless hasn’t taxed all too much to the party’s hold on the agricultural hub and de facto capital of the sector: Haignere City (470Ls). Their pioneering spirit also reflects on the establishment of a tiny colony next to the distant stellar cousin of the spawn sun (Glidden orbital, 100’000Ls). The democratic opposit ion - The New OU Geminorum Green Party - rivals them equally well in influence (43.8%) despite being in possession of no real-estate at all; their common allegiance to the federation has most likely allowed both parties to coexist in peace. Even more surprising is how, with nearly no influence at all (1.2%), the Allied OU Geminrum Justice Party dictatorship has managed to be in control of many more stations than any other faction, all of which are economic powerhouses (Cartwright terminal 138 Ls, Hurston hub 2370 Ls, Velazquez Port 2340 Ls and Weston orbital 3256 Ls) putting them in a strategically advantageous position, reinforced by the isolated nature of the outposts in their possession. All are very close to each other while at the same time forming a quite distinct neighbourhood far awy from spawn, with the exception of Cartwright. This party is not to be confused with their ideological twin, the OU Geminorum Justice Party, slightly

more influential (1.3%) but with only dust in their hands. Another federal corporation known as OU Geminorum Industry is in control of the last “entry hubs” sitting close to the main double stars (Bloomfield station, 212Ls), thus enjoying peaceful times with its modest influence rated at 9.8%.

15 Geminorum (High Security, 36 Million inhabitants, 9CC)

The 15 Geminorum Democrats have enjoyed great economical success thanks to its proximity to many extraction/refinery oriented stations, the region’s headquarters and their eternal rival system: Nandjabinja, all of which have contributed to shape them into important political players in their home system by controlling the two industrial outposts (Gantt station 1092Ls and Ericsson port 1797Ls) despite a reasonable 25.6% influence, as well as abroad by having a significant presence at LP 421-7 (8.1%) and even outside of the Geminorum control sphere, at Susanoo (a belonging of LP 417-213) where it is still at war with Nandjabinja Industries (read issue #1). Since our first report of the Susanoo war, their influence over there has dropped from 10.6% to 5.3% in favor to their opponents that have seen an increase in standing, from a mere 4% to now 9.2%, putting the 15 Geminorum democrats in a losing stance. Their stretched presence also means that they are bested at home in influence by a party with limited potential: the 15 Geminorum Major Exchange federal corporation (34.5%), currently in control of a

POLITICS:

Page 10: OU Geminorum Analysis

minuscule outpost (Artsebask dock 2240Ls) with no commoditites market hence preventing them to integrate the regional economy.

37 Geminorum (High Security, 9 Billion inhabitants, 11CC)

The responsibi l i ty for the moral decadence occurring in this hugely populated system is shared by political powers of a wide variety, including foreign superpowers. In control of the mess is the 37 Geminorum Crimson Bridge Inc. with a major standing of 36.4% influence and sitting in the Chasles port agricultural hub (492Ls) and the tiny Utley city industrial outpost (274 Ls), both of which see episodic weapons sale on their open market. The local dictatorship known as the 37 Geminorum Conservatives with only tiny influence (8.4%) are responsible for allowing illegal immigration and smuggling of imperial slaves at Frechet ring 93Ls and Hinz station 158Ls, a phenomenon most likely encouraged by the Empire, although no concrete evidence has yet surfaced as to which superpower is being responsible. Meanwhile, Edmund Mahon’s presence is very strong here via its proxy corporation: the Alliance alligned 37 Geminorum Advance Corp. (29.4% influence) specialising in arms dealing and operating through an array of three stations (Gant station 881Ls, Davidson hub 2709Ls, Stairs terminal 3813Ls) that sell all sorts of weapons which have been traced to be sold nearby at OU Geminorum and Ross 42 (read this issue’s economic report).

G 97-54 (Medium Security, 104’000 inhabitants, 6CC)

A federal democracy - The Liberals of G 97-54 - peacefully controls the system with 37.4% influence, sitting at Aksyonov orbital (955Ls). The other real-estate asset is the theatre of a violent civil war between two power-hungry and influential parties, however. Kekule hub siting 2315Ls away from spawn is being disputed by G 97-54 Inc. (25.7%), the federal entity in control of the outpost, and a local group of extremely popular anarchists know as the Dragons of G 97-54 (24.3%).

LP 255-11 (High Security, 3 Million inhabitants, 8CC)

A newly established colony orbiting a picturesque gas giant (Burbank port 1487Ls) is slowly but surely entering the danger zone, with the federal aligned democracy LP 255-11

Republic Party acting as the only guardian of peace and sustainability (30% influence). Not too far away, war is raging, opposing the forces of the LP 255-11 Electronics Network, a resourceful ideological ally of the ruling party mentioned above, and an invading foreign f ac t i on f r om Eu r i pus : t he i nfluen t i a l confederation force known as the Euripus League (19.3%). In the meantime, a dangerous local group of anarchic gangsters is flourishing despite the impressive security measures in place (LP 255-11 Mafia, 13.7%)

G 109-55 (Medium Secur i ty, 477,000 inhabitants, 7CC)

Two parties pledged to the federation peacefully rule over the three tiny colonies, both sharing roughly the same influence: currently in control are the Democrats of G 109-55 with 30.6% influence. G 109-55 Solutions, a corporate entity, are rated to have 30.8% influence.

LHS 1857 (Medium Security, 48,000 inhaitants, 6CC)

This system is in a similar situation to G 109-55: two federal aligned factions sharing a disproportionate amount of influence, the difference being that they are currently waging a violent civil war in order to control Dirac hub (353 Ls), the only outpost currently operational. Defending their ownership of the station and by extension, of the entire system, is the LHS 1857 Jet Galactic Systems corporation with an outstanding 49.9% influence. Opposing their rule is the Alliance of LHS 1857, a major confederacy rated to have accumulated nearly as much influence as their enemy (46.3%).

Toog (Medium Security, 19,000 inhabitants, 5CC)

Another system that is experiencing strong bipartisanship. Democrats are in control of Bosch mines (3021Ls) entitling the Toog Republic Party ownership of the system, with 38.1% influence, a rating matched by the opposition, an independent feudal party known as the Earls of Toog. Both also have to compete with the newly established and dynamic OU Geminorum Life Corp . , expanding consistently fast based on their solid 9.1% share of influence.

111 Tauri (Medium Secur i ty, 109’000 inhabitants, 8CC)

CMDR DR.BEBOP WSSR#2 Page 10

Page 11: OU Geminorum Analysis

The situation has changed a lot since issue #1. The ruling federal corporation (Crimson Major Industry) has lost a big chunk of what was an already meagre influence (dropping from 18.5% to 11.9% influence), putting it in an awkward position as two other factions have nearly triple the current rating (each!), and are in a state of civil war for the control of the tiny Samokutyayev outpost (471Ls). Defending its possession is the 111 Tauri Independents Democratic Party, which has experienced a boost in influence since the last report was released (30% to 36.9%) versus the 111 Tauri Power Solutions, another federal aligned corporation (29.7%). Political strife will most likely persevere for quite some time.

Dvoruba (Medium Security, 68’000 inhabitants, 6CC)

Both stations are ruled by Future of Dvoruba, a successful democracy with over 47.9% influence. Dvoruba Life Systems Corp. is the nearest corporate opponent, although much less influential (24.3%)

Ross 42 (High Security, 67 Million inhabitants, 9CC)

A third of the total influence, as well as control of four out five stations (Gaffney port 11.95Ls, Bartoe station 28Ls, Clark hub 37 Ls and Nasmyth enterprise 957 Ls) and a well established market for arms dealers has secured the somewhat rebellious Ross 42 Services’ long term gripe on the system while waving federal colours. It’s only worthy opponent is embodied by a dictatorship responsible for human trafficking and the imports of illegal substances occurring at the hellish Pythagoras hub, only 8 Ls away from Ross 42 A’s boiling surface; Ross 42 Autocracy has however been rated to have a minuscule influence of 4.5%.

LP 421-7 (Low Security, 26’000 inhabitants, 5CC)

The LP 421-7 Systems federal democracy is only bested in influence by the Coalition of LP 421-7 (25.1% vs 33.6%) a confederacy-type party although it is currently ruling Cardano horizons (2238Ls), the sole outpost in the system. Both share federal values thus coexisting in peace, and will have to cooperate if they want to stop the 15 Geminorum Democrats’ unstoppable thirst for control (8.1%).

Dates:Cycle 5 to 8

Belligerents:FEDERATION v SIRIUS CORP.

Leaders:Felicia Winters v Li Yong Rui

Cycle 5: PreparationA Sirius dispatch is sent to evaluate the benefits of exploitation and feasibility of expansion.

Sirius corp. experts estimate that the impact on federal stability will be strongly negative as Oto’s sphere of influence penetrates deep into winterite territory where important trading routes exists, notably near the PACHANWEN system, hugely populated and rich. Additionnaly, many federal couriers are discovered to be using these routes in order to ship forticication assets from Rhea to the LP 417-213 and OU GEMINORUM complex of control systems both bordering Sirius territory. Sirius elites vote in favour of expanding to OTO and manage to prepare the region quietly and without opposition.

Cycle 6: ExpansionDefeated by Federation

Intel from traders warn liberal-federals of an ongoing invasion near their borders, braking Li’s hopes of an unnoticed expansion. Task forces are sent to sabotage the supply lines of Sirius corp, swiftly overwhelming their expansion capacity. Tensions between the two belligerents rise to conflictual levels, amongst the most severe ever experienced by the two countries. Diplomats of Sirius engage in an internal discussion broadcasted to the public on whether hostilities near federal territories should be pursued. The debate is short-lived however, as the voice of a population with profoundly negative views towards the Federation surpasses those of the pacifist minority. Similar conclusions are drawn amongst winterites thus engaging both parties in a state of war. A decisive and violent counter-attack commanded by Winters quickly follows the official declaration of war, crushing Li’s troops that were stretched thin due to other expansion attempts in the region. Cycle 6 ends peacefully, with forces from both sides sparing their assets for a second preparation attempt that at that point was perceived as inevitable.

Cycle 7 and 8: Preparation/ExpansionFederation succeeds

Sirius media increases its presence significantly. Indecisiveness from the Oto population marks the beginning of the cycle despite a central government that is federal aligned. The winter army puts up a good fight trying to catch up but as the cycle nears its end, it becomes clear that Sirius will win. On the 23rd of July, a small but powerful winterite contingent with CMDR Z3n1th at its head brakes through the barricading units set up by Sirius. Within hours, liberal-federals campaigners meet up with leaders from all the systems within Oto’s reach. After intense last-minute negotiations, and an efficient media campaign, Sirius’s influence topples in favour of Winters.

HISTORIC ACHIEVMENTS: THE BATTLE FOR OTO

Page 13: OU Geminorum Analysis

Having entered turmoil, Sirius’s forces cannot mount a strong enough opposition and must abandon its projects.
