The ini�al target is to provide food packages to 1000 families, one pack per family. The food package contains basic items of grocery such as flour, rice, sugar, tea, salt, len�ls, chickpeas, pasta, cooking oil etc. The basic idea of these compiled packages is that it can serve a family for 10 days at least. OTS compassion campaign was ini�ated by preparing 25 food packages and delivering them in different locali�es in Lahore. Within a week this campaign successfully reached 250 beneficiaries. We are con�nually receiving numerous applica�ons for help.

Story of Ashiq Hussain

OTS team met a man while distribu�ng food packages in one of the locali�es in Lahore) "Ashiq Hussain” a street hawker was looking at me while OTS team was distribu�ng food. He came li�le closer and with a hesitatant voice he asked, “Sir I am not a beggar but a labourer and have not earned anything today. There is shortage of food at my home and that's why I came out to do work, even though there is a restric�on from the Govt." He con�nued to say that "maybe it is not my right to ask for this dona�on of food, but my 3 kids and my wife are wai�ng at home for me so I can take something for them to eat but I s�ll haven't earned anything to buy food for them. May I ask you if one of these food packs could be given to me?” For a moment I kept silent as there was nothing le� with me for him. Taking courage, I asked him to give me his mobile number to contact him later. While saving his number in my phone I gave a call to confirm if the number was correct. I was not expec�ng someone to a�end the call as it should have been ringing with him but my call was a�ended at his home.

Next day at 6:30 pm when package was delivered to Ashiq Hussain and he was very excited to have food package for his family. We can see his inner happiness on his face.

His wife a�ended this call and he shouted "do not delete this number! Tomorrow we will receive food from this number." His response was so painful that I could hardly stop my tears.

Stories of BeneficiariesWhile distributing food packs in different localities, OTS has received many moving stories from the beneficiaries. The following stories are motivating our team and many other friends to reach out many people who are waiting for help from somewhere.

Tariq Masih from Narowal has 6 children and a wife in his family. Mr. Tariq has had two severe heart a�acks as well as being diabe�c. Doctors recommended him open heart surgery, his health condi�ons do not allow him to do any work now. His wife is a domes�c worker. She is the only bread winner of the family. OTS COMPASSION CAMPAIGN I Issue # 1 2

She has three children and all of them are studying. Her husband works in Lahore in a factory on daily wages. One of her daughters (17-year-old) is fighting some intestinal disease for the last two years and getting treated from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital Lahore. Most of the income earned by her husband is being used on her daughters' illness. Now all the factories are being closed in Lahore due to the Coronavirus pandemic so her husband is compelled to stay at home desperately waiting for some helping hand for his family.Her eyes were full of tears while telling that we did not have enough food at home and were feeding on rusks

OTS Compassion campaign” like in other ci�es is ac�ve in Narowal as well. 15 food packages were prepared, 12 were distributed to deserving people and to those who are unable to get any work on daily wages in different locali�es of Narowal. All of them are thankful to God and to OTS for suppor�ng them.

Manzoor Masih is a 70 years old man got married in his 50s, so he has 4 young children at home. All of them are under 18. His young wife has le� him. He has been working on daily wages. As he has been stopped for many days due to the lock down. Desperate eyes of his children were wai�ng for some magic s�ck to get them some food items.

The Coronavirus Pandemic has made everyone vulnerable in our world, even the most powerful countries are struggling because of it. Pakistan as a developing country is doing its best to control the situa�on by imposing lock down for maintaining social distancing in order to contain the spread of the virus. However, it has an immediate and dras�c effect on the most vulnerable who depend on daily wages. Our reliable sources tell us that many families, especially the poor Chris�ans are struggling to afford their basic necessi�es as they do not have any alternate source of income because they only earn on daily basis. As followers of Christ, I believe that we should share his love by helping the deprived ones, without discrimina�on, in this �me of crisis.OTS has taken the ini�a�ve to contribute its li�le part in this desperate situa�on by star�ng OTS Compassion Campaign through which we are providing food packs to 1,000 needy families for at least 10 days.

Since we started this campaign, we are receiving numerous requests for food help from across the country. Because of this, we are coming under pressure to meet the need which is massive as compared to our meagre resources. Ini�ally OTS staff had personally contributed towards this cause and this campaign began on the basis of this fund. We then started receiving contribu�ons from individuals, slowly but surely this campaign is growing and will enable us to help out many seeking assistance. I invite you to be a part of this campaign with your prayers and financial support.
