Do I need to load special ammunition in my weapon to use a suppressor?

No, but the operator will find the sound reduction is much better if subsonic ammunition is used. Subsonic ammuni-tion is ammunition that is loaded to velocity slower than the speed of sound (< 340 m/s).

Will a suppressor make a firearm totally silent?

No, but the right suppressor on the right weapon with the right ammunition will reduce the sound of the report a great deal. There are other sounds to be considered as well such as the sound of the bolt, shell casings and the sonic crack of high velocity ammunition.

Will shooting a suppressor limit the life of my weapon?

If a weapon is fired a lot with a suppressor it will indeed reduce the life of the weapon. Suppressors amplify the driving forces in gas operated systems (e. g. assault rifles) or increase friction on recoil operated systems with moving barrel (e. g. pistols). Thus suppressors will create more wear and tear on moving and bearing parts.

Will a suppressor affect the function of a weapon?

A suppressor can reduce the reliability of a weapon once for the reasons stated above and second simply by trapping more dirt in the weapon.

How often will I need to clean my weapon if using a suppressor?

A suppressor limits the amount of gas that escapes from the muzzle of the weapon. This allows a buildup of carbon in the suppressor and the weapon itself. We recommend cleaning the weapon after each firing session.

The goal of using a suppressor is to get below 140 dB A in sound pressure level which is the threshold of pain.

What is the best way to mount a suppressor on a assault rifle?

The most reliable method for an assault rifle is to mount it on a standard NATO flashhider. This will ensure universal interoperability among NATO partners. Avoid unique or specialized flashhiders that are found on only one model of rifle. This will add to the logistical burden of any fighting force.

.22 PISTOLSThe .22 pistol suppressor produced by B&T is an extremely lightweight and economic solution. It provides excellent reduction (up to 42 dBA) to any .22 pistol or rifle.
