  • Moss, and all those volunteers that helped making the Juried Exhibition a huge success! I would also like to recognize all applying artists and applaud each one. The caliber and talent of all 233 pieces was outstanding! Congratulations to all!

Another successful event was the Paint Battle that took place at Gallery 67! It was a great night filled with art, music, and community. Congratulations to all artists and to all involved in making the event a wonderful, successful evening!

The next event coming up is the Spring Art Festival, held at Camp Samac, April 27-29. I’m predicting it will be another successful event!

Happy painting, drawing, sculpting, creating all forms of art!

    ...2 A R T M AT T E R S Newsletter May 2018

Many changes have occurred since last month’s newsletter message. First of all, I would like to thank Dominique Faivre for serving as the OAA Secretary for the past three

years. Thank you for all your hard work, and volunteering on many committees! And, welcoming, Anya Bungay, to her new role as our new OAA Inc. Secretary. May you always enjoy this position, as part of the Oshawa Art Association team!

Also changing is our Newsletter Editor, Cathy Clark, who has provided the OAA membership with an impressive newsletter every month, for the past several years. Thank you for all your hard work producing these informative and quality newsletters! Replacing as Newsletter Editor is Jacob Bugelli, who will continue

following in well molded footsteps. Welcome to the OAA team!

It is with heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of long time member, a kind and gentle lady, Sylvia Valentine, a wonderful watercolour painter. Also, Honourary Life Member, Catherine Delhaise, who was instrumental in the early foundation of the OAA. She was thrilled to have her life drawing accepted into the OAA Juried Exhibition, and is currently on display at RMG. Both shared a passion for art and will be deeply missed by many of our members.

The Juried Exhibition had a total of 136 applications, with a compiled total of 233 works of art. The three jurors had the difficult task of selecting 75 pieces for hanging and eight sculptures for display. Congratulations to Juried Chair, Joan
