    OBJECTIVES OF THE ACT1. To secure the safety, health and welfare of persons at

    PART ISection 7 : Powers of an Inspector

    1. To enter, inspect and examine, by day or by night any

    factory, to believe that explosive or highly

    inflammable materials are stored or used and to

    exercise such powers as may be necessary to inspectand examine any machinery, plant, appliance or

    fitting therein

    Section 8 : Obstruction an offence

    PART IISection 10 : Provisions relating to safety

    1. Foundations and floors shall be of sufficient strength

    to sustain the loads for which they are designed

    2. Roofs shall be of sufficient strength to carry where

    necessary suspended loads

    3. All floors, working levels, platforms, decks,stairways, ladders and steps shall be of safe

    construction so as to prevent a risk of persons falling

    Section 11 : Persons exposed to explosive, inflammable

    1. In every factory in which persons are exposed to risk of

    bodily injury from explosive, inflammable, poisonous orcorrosive substances or ionizing radiations, such measures as

    may be prescribed shall be taken as will eliminate the risk.

    Also the secretariat to National Council forOccupational Safety and Health, a council establishedunder section 8 of the Occupational Safety and HealthAct 1994.

    ContNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF OCCUPATIONAL

    SAFETY AND HEALTH (NIOSH) Also known as the Institut Keselamatan dan

    Kesihatan Pekerjaan Negara

    Established as a Company Limited by

    Guarantee under the Ministry of HumanResources

    Launched on December 1, 1992

    NIOSH serves as the backbone to create a self-regulating occupational safety and healthculture in Malaysia

    ContSOCIAL SECURITY ORGANIZATION

    (SOCSO) The Social Security Organization is an organization set up to

    administer, enforce and implement the Employees' SocialSecurity Act, 1969 and the Employees' Social Security(General) Regulations 1971.

    The Social Security Organization provides social securityprotection by social insurance including medical and cashbenefits, provision of artificial aids and rehabilitation toemployees to reduce the sufferings and to provide financialguarantees and protection to the family.

    SOCSO is the abbreviation for Social Security Organization.It is commonly known in the Malay term as PERKESO orPertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial.

    An insured person or dependants will be entitled to the following benefits :

    1. Periodical payments in the case of invalidity

    2. Periodical payments in the case of disablement suffered as a result of anemployment injury

    3. Periodical payments to the dependants of an insured person who dies as a

    result of an employment injury

    4. Payments for funeral benefit or expense on the death of an insured person

    as a result of an employment injury5. Periodical payments to an insured person who is in receipt of invalidity

    pension or disablement benefit and is so severely incapacitated or disabled

    as to require the personal attendance of another person

    6. Medical treatments for the attendance on insured persons suffering from

    disablement

    7. Periodical payments to dependants of an insured person who dies while in

    receipt of invalidity pension

    SOCSO provides coverage to eligible employees through 2 schemes namely

    1. Employment Injury Insurance Scheme

    2. Invalidity Pension Scheme.

    Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial adalah sebuah organisasiyang ditubuhkan untuk mentadbirkan, menguatkuasakandan melaksanakan Keselamatan Sosial Pekerja di bawahAkta ini, 1969 dan Keselamatan Sosial Pekerja (Am) 1971

    Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial menyediakan perlindungankeselamatan sosial oleh insurans sosial termasuk faedahperubatan dan wang tunai, penyediaan alat bantu buatandan pemulihan kepada pekerja untuk mengurangkanpenderitaan dan untuk menyediakan jaminan kewangandan perlindungan kepada keluarga

    PERKESO adalah singkatan bagi Pertubuhan KeselamatanSosial. Ini telah diketahui umum dalam jangka Melayusebagai PERKESO atau Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial

    Bayaran berkala dalam hal ilat

    Bayaran berkala dalam kes hilang upaya yang dialami akibat bencana kerja

    Bayaran berkala kepada orang tanggungan seseorang orang berinsurans yang matiakibat bencana kerja

    Bayaran untuk faedah atau perbelanjaan pengebumian di atas kematian orangyang diinsuranskan akibat bencana kerja

    Bayaran berkala kepada seseorang orang berinsurans yang menerima pencen ilatatau faedah hilang upaya dan begitu teruk tidak berupaya atau kurang upayauntuk menghendaki kehadiran peribadi orang lain

    Rawatan perubatan untuk kehadiran pada orang yang diinsuranskan mengalamihilang upaya

    Bayaran berkala kepada tanggungan seseorang orang berinsurans yang matisemasa menerima pencen ilat
