Detrimental effects on humans would caused bythe chronic exposure to low concentrations of lead
over a long period. Lead exposure increases the risk of high blood
pressure.
Massive doses of lead can cause cardiac
abnormalities. Lead can cause serious, permanent kidney and
brain damage at high enough levels.
Low levels may cause tiredness, mood changes,
headaches, stomach problems and troublesleeping.
Higher levels may cause aching, weakness inconcentration or memory problems

By referringto the :
Shenzhen Daily, 2010-November-3: - A batterymanufacturer, which is one of the electronicindustry in Henggang Subdistrict, LonggangDistrict, promised all the employees to have a
health check on 1 November 2010 after theDaily Sunshine reported that over 20 of itsworkers were suffering from lead poisoning.

According to national standards, the normal bloodlead content for workers in lead-using industries
who are older than 15 should be no higher than400 mcg per liter.
The lowest blood lead content among the 22workers at Yidian Battery was found to be 446.5
mcg per liter, with the highest reaching 855.3 mcgper liter.
According to the information gave by one of theworkers, named Song Ronghua, there werenobody cured although they were sent toShaoguan Metallurgical Plant Hospital on Aug. 2where they were put on a drip for over two weeks.

The irresponsible of the employer had made theemployees suffered from health problem.
Employees should had their own responsibility toreport earlier to the organisation related to preventfurther serious problem.
The equipment of the company should also
improveto reducethe lead exposure. Further actions should be taken will be explained in
the following report.
This project also aim to create a background data
on lead exposure of workersas well as to create anunderstanding and awareness of the dangers oflead and how to protect themselves fromexposure.

Lead Exposure Reduction Amendments Act of2013.
-Amends the Toxic Substances Control Act
(TSCA) to exclude from the definition of"abatement" any renovation, remodeling, orother activity: (1) the primary purpose of whichis to repair, restore, or remodel target housing,
public buildings constructed before 1978, orcommercial buildings; and (2) that incidentallyresults in a reduction or elimination of lead-
based paint hazards.

Toxic Substances Control Act.
- The Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976provides EPA with authority to require reporting,record-keeping and testing requirements, andrestrictions relating to chemical substancesand/or mixtures. Certain substances aregenerally excluded from TSCA, including, among others, food, drugs, cosmetics andpesticides.
- TSCA addresses the production, importation, use, and disposal of specific chemicalsincluding polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs),asbestos, radon and lead-based paint.

Through the course of the project, there is asignificant difference in air leadconcentrations between exposed and
unexposed respondents. Dust leadconcentrations on the right side surfacearea were significantly higher than the leftside surface area. However, there is no
significant difference in blood leadconcentrations and blood pressurebetween exposed and unexposedrespondents.

In conclusion, the lead soldering workersin this electronic factory are not at highrisk of exposure to lead from theirworkplace. Employers must ensure thehealth of the workers by following thesteps that must be taken when startedan electronic industry with lead andemployees must have some knowledgeabout the actions and preventions theycan take when there is lead exposure.

Employers should have a responsibility toensure that workers are protected from harmfullead exposure.
Employers are required to comply withstandards established to prevent harmfulexposure to lead.
Employee should wash their hands and facebefore they eat, drink or smoke and do it only
in areas that are free of lead dust and fumes. Employee should avoid stirring up lead-
containing dust with dry sweeping or blowingand apply wet cleaning and vacuuming aregenerally safer.
