WHY TRADITIONAL BRACES?

When it comes to straightening your teeth, in

particularly if you are in need of more complex

orthodontic work, the tried and tested method

of metal brackets and wires is one of the most

effective. Traditional braces should not stop

your lifestyle; for example, you can still play

a sport. Speak to your dentist about your diet

as this may alter once you begin treatment

and are still getting used to your traditional

braces system.

HOW DO THEY WORK?

Brackets are bonded to your teeth, and

the wires are then attached to the brackets

to slowly move your teeth into the desired

position. You will need to continue a set

amount of appointments to see your dentist

and have your braces slightly tightened; this will

move your teeth slowly into the correct position.

remembering to wear the orthodontic system.

HOW LONG WILL MY CHILD HAVE TO WEAR ORTHODONTICS FOR?

This will be discussed and estimated during your consultation, many of our patients have worn braces for

12 to 36 months. The aligners we offer at Dentessential are from Quick Straight Teeth and are mainly used to

correct cosmetic alignment: meaning the treatment is not as severe and should not take as long to correct.

WHAT AGE GROUP IS CONSIDERED AS CHILDREN’S ORTHODONTICS?

By about ages 12-15, most kids have lost all of their baby teeth and have a full set of permanent teeth.

There are 32 permanent teeth in all — 12 more than the original set of baby teeth. Therefore, children’s

orthodontics is covered by this timeframe. It is important to have your children monitored for possible

teeth and jaw alignment issues by ages 6-7.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

In general, Quick Straight Teeth is most commonly used on your ‘social teeth’ – the front six to eight

treatment option for major orthodontic issues, it’s an extremely effective method of treatment for minor

to moderate issues.

Quick Straight Teeth is available in several forms including clear fixed braces, as well as removable aligner

options. The type you require will depend on your circumstances.

THE FIXED APPLIANCE OPTION

The fixed appliance option is similar to traditional braces, but features tooth-coloured wires and clear

REMOVABLE ALIGNERS

WHEN CAN I TAKE OUT MY ALIGNERS?

You can take them out to eat the foods you enjoy before cleaning your teeth and popping them back in to

recommence your orthodontic treatment. Keep in mind the longer you wear your aligners every day, the

more you will notice the aligners working.

HOW MANY HOURS A DAY SHOULD I WEAR MY ALIGNERS?

It is ideal to wear your aligners for at least 20 hours a day. Wear them while you sleep, work, study, etc.
