Location : West

Bengal, Purulia, Jargo, India.

Purulia is a district in the state

of West Bengal India about 200

Km from Kolkata/ Calcutta.

Which is the border district of

West Bengal and shares the

border with state such as

Jharkhand. Our Orphanage is

located at village of Jargo which

is under the municipality of

Jhalda in Purulia district.

THE VILLAGEThe main occupation of the villagers in Jargo and the villages around Jargois to work In biri factory which is a local cigarette factory where they earnvery maximum of 15 Rupee a day. Some could not raise their kids andsome do not want them. Plus there is a high percentage of disabled anddeformities yet there are not many orphanages or homes for disabled andmost of them end up begging on the streets to make their living. Undersuch a circumstances one cannot think of raising a child. Our organizationhas been helping the children who come from very, very poor families withtheir annual income of Rs. 500 or less. We have so far 2 deformed childrenand many orphans. Who has no parents or remarried and in order toremarry one must have to give up their children. We have been trying tocollect these children from around Purulia district and give them a bettereducation. Our aim is not only to give them food and clothing but showthem the love of Christ……….

IMMEDIATE NEEDSFOOD: Since the Organization that was supporting the orphanage stopped funding In

2008 after the agreement terminated. The orphanage has been struggling tomaintain the 3 meals a day. It is the grace of god that the brothers ad sistersinvolved try very hard to keep the food coming in. Janice and the members ofGodsquad have been helping the children with what ever fund she and theGodsquad could come up with.

BEDS: Lack of funds have also contributed to the accommodation by not having betterbeds for the children where they can sleep well. Lack of Warm blanket during thewinter season is a challenge for the children. During the summer it is toughwithout a fan. Our thanks to the Godsquad and sister Janice who donated 4 fansfor the children to save the children from terrible heat last year

WATER: The only form of water they have is to pull it out of a well and use it. Then if theywish to go to the toilet they have carry the water I a bucket ad carry it to thetoilet., which is not easy for a kid of 4 to 5 years. not to mention the danger ofhurting themselves in a hurry. A water pump and a proper pipe lines to the toiletscould solve the issue of children hauling and pulling out water from the well.

EDUCATION: Books are expensive, so they sometimes share books. There is a great needof Christian books for the children so that they can read bible stories. Teachersare not always available and since we are unable to pay them on regularbasis, some find it hard to stay.

GENERAL INFORMATIONThe Compassion Ministries and the godsquad have joined together in a effort to provide for the

orphans since January 2008. We do not have a regular funds coming in from any organization.

From January the funding stopped from the previous sponsor. Our only source of income is the

students attending the school from the village and surrounding area. The cost of supporting these

children for their basic needs is approximately $15 per month for each child or about $510 per

month.

Our fervent prayer is for these children is that they would not only be provided with their basic

needs but be blessed with important things such as books, medical help, toys, etc.

Volunteers who can show them love and care in anyway they can will be ideal. For this to

happen, however, facilities must be acquired and volunteers must be aware of extreme conditions

such as heat, humidity, mosquitoes and the lack of any modern tools.

The country is beautifully scenic with green fields, ponds ad volcanic peaks. Though a mostly Hindu

population, Christians are speckled throughout the area.

The languages spoken there is Bengali, and Hindi. Many of the schools are now teaching English.

So often you will need a child to translate for you. This area is remote where the nearest medical

facility is Jhalda 15 Km or Purulia 45 Km.

However volunteers may opt to live in Purulia which has a little better conditions and most of the

Godsquad team members live there and travel back and forth. Electricity comes and goes so often

and a generator is required for electrical needs.

There are many challenges but where there are challenges there are blessings too. For the most

part it is a safe area for Christians. The Godsquad and the Compassion ministry will always be

there with their full support with sincere and a warm heart.

Our Vision: The bible says : Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he

will not depart from it. ( Proverbs: 22:6)

Our vision is to give these orphans better education, medical care and a sense of self

worth and security. In a population who mostly follow the Hinduism, our vision is to

bring them up with better knowledge not only in academics but more importantly in

knowledge and example of Christ Jesus. To equip them with skills that is required to

survive in this world. To nurture their Spiritual gifts. To make them see that they may be

poor or Orphans but they too can bring the changes required. Our vision is to see these

kids grow up to be a strong in Christ Jesus and not only make something of their

lives, but also where they can contribute to the others in need. Make them grow up as

ones who can hear the call of God and will never be afraid to respond to his calling. We

wish and dream to see children from this orphanage, someday become great soldiers

for Christ.

In order to achieve this we need to set up better and strong examples, tell them all that

Jesus Christ stood for. Teach them to do good deeds and show them how a small act of

kindness and help can do wonders. We cannot force our beliefs in them but all we can

do is show them the goodness of Christ and all he did for us and when the time comes

they will find themselves well equipped spiritually, physically and mentally to choose

what is right and godly. We believe the children should be brought up to a state where

they will not be guided by human understanding and reasoning , but by the Holy Spirit.
