ORMTC President’s Report August 2015
At last month’s meeting we had a very entertaining and informative presentation by the WA Police represented by Superintendent Ian Clark (40 years on motorbikes) and Sargeant Simon Baxter (32 years). A sobering stat reported was that 74% of all motorcycle fatalities are caused by the motorcyclist. Do we need any greater reason to ride within our capability and to stay in control at all times?
Thank you to Vice President Russell for organising their visit
Our planned 40th Anniversary Dinner has been cancelled due to insufficient numbers, so we have rescheduled to Saturday 24th October with a Lunch time gathering at the Kalamunda Hotel. This will double as our Awards Presentation function. Look out for more information as the date approaches.
Finally I’d like to mention the sad passing of Don Randall MP for Canning who no doubt was a local member for a number of our members. Don was a close personal friend of mine. He worked tirelessly for his constituents and will be sadly missed.

Editors Report
Hi all, The Club Run in July went well and it appears the Social Ride also did. I missed the Social Ride to go fishing instead; catching my biggest ever tailor at 62 cm. This edition has plenty of photos from all three rides from last month. Thanks, Fred, Nic & Peter. The big deal this month is the rides. There’s details for the Club Run and the Grand Tour at the back of the mag but you’ll need to stay tuned to the internet for Social Ride details –they didn’t make it. There was also some internet chatter of a short ORATS ride but no details of that either. A quick mention of the financial side of things; the report on page 16 includes the shirt order of nearly $700. I paid on my card and was reimbursed from the cash tin, which conveniently saved me a trip to the bank, but I now have become the owner of $200 worth of $2 coins. Ivan

O.R.M.T.C. RIOT ACT
This is to be read out at the start of each run
1. All riders are to be introduced to the Leader and Tail End
Charlie before the start of the run. 2. Do not overtake on the left – EVER!!
3. For rider safety a staggered formation is strongly
recommended.
4. Do not pass the leader unless they say it is okay.
5. When turning you MUST wait on the corner where you can be seen until the person behind catches up.
6. When you see someone on a corner you will become the
corner marker unless they wave you through.
7. Ride within your own personal limits and be mindful of the road rules.
8. The tail end Charlie will always be behind the last bike, no
matter what.
Please complete the sign in sheet with rider/pillion details including an emergency contact name and number.
This riot act must be read out before the start of each run. If you
are attending the run and the organisers fail to read it out, please remind them to do so.
