    ORing Industrial Networking Corp. was established in 2005 by a group of software and hardware engineers,

     The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) 2002/95/EC was adopted in February 2003 by theEuropean Union. This directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types ofelectronic and electrical equipment.

    ORing always concerns about the environment and the future of our next generations, hence the company istaking an active role in protecting the environment through its compliance with industry and legislation regardingthe restriction on use of lead and other hazardous substances.     ORing offers unmanaged and lite-managed IP-67

    waterproof Ethernet switches that suitable for the all harsh

    industrial applications.

    Besides industrial Ethernet Switches, ORing also provides

    Serial to Ethernet device servers, up to 8 serial ports, with

    different interfaces, such like, coppers, wireless interface, or

    optic fiber. ORing’s industrial device servers supports TCP

    server, TCP client, UDP, and VirtualCom modes, free bundled

    with management utility and VCOM utility, DS-Tool.

    ORing's serial converters allow devices to communicateeffortlessly across different serial interfaces and offer

    convenient, intelligent features. Also, ORing offers Serial to

    Serial, USB to Serial, Fiber to Ethernet, and gigabit Fiber to

    Technology Description : Many Ethernet protocols defined by IEEE, such as STP, RSTP, MSTP, are developed to recoverfrom network disconnections. However, the recovery time is much more critical in industrial applications than commercialones. Due to these needs, industrial networking devices often utilize proprietary redundant ring technologies to minimize

    the downtime. ORing develops a variety of proprietary redundant ring technologies including O-Ring, O-RSTP, and Open-Ring, etc. These ORing’s proprietary redundant ring technologies not only meet the demands of different networkingtopologies, but also assure the reliability of the network.

    Redundant Ring Technologies

    O-Ring : O-Ring is ORing's proprietary redundant ringtechnology, with recovery time of less than 10 millisecondsand up to 250 nodes. The O-Ring redundant ringtechnology can protect mission critical applications fromnetwork interruptions or temporary malfunction with itsfast recover technology.

    Open-Ring : Open-Ring is an enhanced redundancy technology that makesORing’s switches compatible with other vendor’s proprietary redundant ringtechnologies. It enables ORing’s switches to form a single ring with other vendor’sswitch. In cases where the ring is setup using proprietary technology, ORing offersa compatibility service where ORing can make its switches compatible with yourparticular network requirements.

    O-RSTP : O-RSTP supports more complex topologies and can be applied to moreapplication, while still maintaining a recover time of less than 20 milliseconds. O-RSTPis an enhanced version of RSTP that supports applications with complex topologies.

    Technology Description : Power over Ethernet(PoE) technology describes a system to deliver electricalpower, along with data, on twisted-pair cabling (CAT.5e).Power can come from a power supply within a PoE

    -enabled networking device, Power Source Equipment(PSE), such as an PoE Ethernet switch.

    PoE Port Schedule : This technology enables the user to arrange the schedule of power delivery along with thetwisted-pair cable by hours and days on each port. Hence, the user could avoid the unnecessary waste of energy.

    PoE Port Power Management : Apart from scheduling feature, the maximal power output could also be limitedto avoid unnecessary waste of energy.

    Alive Checking : ORing’s managed/lite-managed PoE Switch could be configured to monitor the real-time statusof connected power devices (PDs). ORing’s managed/lite-managed PoE Switch could send alive-checking packets toassure the connected PDs are in working state. If the connected PDs fail to response, ORing’s managed/lite-managedPoE switch could reset the connected PDs to assure the reliability of the network.

    Technology Description : IEEE 802.11 networks could onlytransmit data within a few hundred meters, as for mobile dataapplication, the devices should handoff from one access point toanother. ORing’s X-Roaming technology that available in ORing’snew access point series, IAP-120/120+ and IAP-320/320+, shortensthe handoff time between two different access points to less than100 milliseconds, and makes seamless wireless communicationpossible. With ORing’s X- Roaming, the client can roam seamlesslyamong different access points.

     Though supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) have traditionally used combinations of radio and direct

    serial or modem connections to meet communication requirements, Ethernet is also frequently used at large sites as

    railways and power stations.

    SCADA systems are commonly used in various kinds of manufacturing plants and power stations, such as thermal

    power station, wind power station and photovoltaic (PV) power plants for monitoring, control, remote communication

    Water Treatment Plant

    In early 2010, ORing Industrial Networking Corp. (ORing or the Company) assisted awater treatment works in South China area to establish its automation network. Thiswater treatment works provides a treated water supply to eastern part of the islandwith output of 227,000 m3 per day. The maximum pumping capacity is 285,000 m3 perday consist of 5 pumps located in the pumping station. The entire treatment worksmakes optimum use of the limited land available; incorporating specially designedlandscaping features to blend with the natural environment. In order to enhanceoperation efficiency, a sophisticated “Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition(SCADA) system is provided for automatic plant operation, monitoring and control.

    Consisted of ORing’s IES-2042PA, IES-3082GP and IES-3242GC industrial Ethernet switches, the hybrid networkof fiber and Ethernet solve the long transmission distanceproblem due to large area of the plant floor.     layers. The primary layer adopts IES-2042PA lite-managedswitch enables cost effective redundant ring solution.IES-2042PA is an industrial 6-port slim type lite-managedEthernet switch with 4x10/100Base-T(X) and 2x100Base-FX, SFP socket, the slim and compact size requires limitedinstallation space, thus the devices can be kept in a 19-inch chassis. Moreover, the SPF module enhances highflexibility for different transmission distance.

    We can see from the Fig. 1 that one of port of the IES-2042PA is connected to a PLC for automation ofelectromechanical processes, and another port is connected to IES-3082GP, an industrial 2x100/1000SFP port and 8 port10/100 TX highly managed Ethernet switch, which formed the second layer of the network. Finally, the third layer isconnected to IES-3242GC, a highly managed Redundant Ring Ethernet switch with 24x10/100TX & 2x1000 SFP COMBO

    ports.

    IES-2042PA, IES-3082GP, and IES-3242GC provide the setting ability of Web-GUI and Windows Utility, and alsosupport the simple DIP-Switch setting function which offers great flexibility to set up the Ring.       In early 2009, one of ORing’s European distributorsassists a system integrator to construct the DVRsurveillance system in a 42-level high skyscraper inRussia. The Gigabit backbone network, a Gigabitredundant ring to communicate the centralcontrol room, video server and the other Ethernetswitches in each level, is constituted by ORing’s highperformance industrial full Gigabit Ethernet switches,IGS-3044GP and IGS-1050A.

    Depended on the distance from the level at issueto the central control room, IES-3062GT and IES-1062GT is installed to connect to the IP cameras andlink to the Gigabit backbone network or deployed to

    enable optic fiber connections to the cameras andthe Gigabit backbone network.

    Furthermore, in order to offer seamless and efficientcommunication capabilities, ORing’s industrialwireless access point, IAP-6002-WA and IAP-6701-WG+ are installed to connect to the sensors locatedin somewhere difficult to deploy a wired cable insideor outside the skyscraper.

    In this successful case, ORing provides a totalsolution, including industrial full Gigabit Ethernetswitches, industrial Ethernet switch with optic fiberconnections, and industrial wireless access point, toassist its partner to establish a cost effective and highperformance IP surveillance system of a skyscrapersuccessfully.

      Complex traffic systems play an important role in themodern society. It is a challenge for traffic system plannersto establish an intelligent traffic monitoring system foementraffic to prevent traffic congestion. More and more traffic

    system planners realize that IP-based devices can providethe most appropriate solution for traffic surveillance andmanagement. In 2009, ORing helps its partner successfullyestablish the IP surveillance system in an European country.

      ORing cooperates with a system integrator to deploy 120units of industrial managed Ethernet switches, IGS-1050Afor monitoring and remote control in a traffic surveillancesystem. At busy intersections, the traffic surveillance requireshigh-bandwidth communication over a long distance whilewithstanding heavy duty usage and harsh conditions. IGS-1050A supports 5x10/100/1000Base-T(X) could meet thedemand of high-bandwidth communication. Therefore, IGS-

    1050A could assure the reliability of the whole network fortraffic surveillance.

      In January 2009, ORing helped another partner to successfully establish the IP surveillance system among different

    parking areas by 300 units of IES-3062FX-MM industrial managed switches. In this case, IES-3062FX-MM provides reliable

    and stable connection to transmit the data from IP cameras to the remote control site.

      In December 2009, a well-known European system integrator adopts ORing’s industrial Ethernet switches to

    deploy its networking IP surveillance system for an oil field in the remote area of a Mediterranean country.  This IP surveillance system applies 140 units of ORing’s IES-1050A entry level industrial slim type Ethernet switch

    and 35 units IES-3082GP 10-port industrial 10-port managed Ethernet switch to establish 3 redundant ring networks,

    and these 3 redundant ring networks are connected to form a secured and complete IP networking surveillance

    network.

    As shown in figure 1, the node of the ring is composed of IES-1050A industrial Ethernet switches and IES-3082GP

    managed Ethernet switches, and IES-1050A is connected to IP cameras. “Our IP surveillance system is constructed

    in remote outdoor area where there are climatic fluctuations, strong wind, sunshine … etc. Hence only industrial

    grade Ethernet devices can meet the requirements of operating in such harsh environment,” Dimitri Nosarev,

    project manger of the oil field surveillance system indicates. “In addition, mission-critical surveillance application

    can not afford any data loss, and ORing industrial Ethernet products’ fast recovery feature can fulfill the task of avoid

    or minimize the risk of losing data and satisfies all our demanding requirements. Most important of all, it is cost

    effective.”

    In order to reduce congestion on the roads and save lives, governments in various countries are investing insolutions that make highways “smarter.” By using intelligent transportation systems (ITSs), operators are able tomonitor and react to traffic-flow issues, speed emergency communications and response, better inform the public oftraffic issues, and expedite traffic by using automated toll collectors.

    Networked applications are critical to the success of ITS solutions, and they require the ability to handle many typesof data and performance requirements. Ethernet is a cost-effective, high-bandwidth, intelligent technology that getsthe most out of the ITS network infrastructure. Performance requirements of intelligent transportation system (ITS)networks are increasing dramatically. Traditional networks are being upgraded to meet these requirements, using fiber,wireless technology, lower-cost endpoints, and scalable architectures. Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) represents an excellent end-to-end solution for these requirements, and as a result, Ethernet is being deployedas an underlying architecture in many ITS networks.

    Due to the high volume of motorists and traffic flow,traffic monitor, control and security issues now becomeincreasing important in mass rapid transit systems.ORing successfully assisted a system integrator in Oulu,Finland to deploy the industrial Wireless Access Point(WAP) device in 2008 Spring.

The system integratorconnected ORing’s authenticated network through Ouluaccess-points devices. There are signals connected to the

    access point and these signals are used to show availableparking spaces.

    Real-time vacant parking space data are collected and used to control signals on the road, the purpose is to provideinformation to motorists for choosing the best location to park.

    Nowadays, the complex traffic systems play animportant role in the modern society. It is a challenge fortraffic system planner to establish an intelligent systemfor traffic management to prevent traffic congestion.More and more traffic system planners realize that IP-based devices can provide the most appropriate solutionfor traffic surveillance and management. In recent years,ORing helped two system integrators to establish theirintelligent traffic systems by adopting ORing switches.

    ORing cooperated with a system integrator in Taiwanto deploy 500 units of industrial managed Ethernetswitches, IES- 3082GP for monitoring and remote controlin the traffic system. At busy intersections, the networkrequires high bandwidth communication over a longdistance while withstanding heavy duty usage andharsh conditions.
