SOIL DESCRIPTION

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FROM THE SOIL SURVEY OF FRANKLIN COUNTY AND FROM THE USDA NRCS WEBSOIL SURVEY AND ARE SHOWN ON DRAWING KP-1.SOILS WITHIN THE PROJECT AREA ARE CLASSIFIED AS FOLLOWS:

SOIL LIMITATION RESOLUTIONS: DEPTH TO SATURATED ZONE LIMITATIONS WILL BE ADDRESSED BY USE OF A PUMPED WATER FILTER BAG IF NECESSARY. DEPTH TO HARD BEDROCK LIMITATIONS WILL BE ADDRESSED BY USING A ROCK BREAKER OR BLASTING IF NECESSARY DURING THE TRENCHING PROCESS. SLOPE AND EROSION LIMITATIONS WILL BE ADDRESSED BY LIMITING THE AMOUNT OF THE SOIL THAT IS EXPOSED. AN EROSION CONTROL BLANKET WILL BE USED ON

ALL SLOPES 3:1 OR GREATER. SLOPE LIMITATIONS WILL ALSO BE ADDRESSED BY REQUIRING THAT DAILY TRENCH EXCAVATION BE LIMITED TO THE LENGTH OF PIPEPLACEMENT AND BACKFILLING THAT CAN BE COMPLETED IN THE SAME DAY. ANY AND ALL AREAS DISTURBED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE STABILIZED USINGTEMPORARY SEEDING.

CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED BY LAW TO FOLLOW OSHA REQUIREMENTS; THIS WILL ADDRESS ANY LIMITATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH CUTBANKS CAVING. LARGE STONES CONTENT LIMITATIONS FOR LANDSCAPING WILL BE ADDRESSED BY REQUIRING THAT A MINIMUM OF 6 INCHES OF TOPSOIL BE PLACED BEFORE

PERMANENT SEEDING IS APPLIED. LIME WILL BE APPLIED IF NECESSARY TO ADDRESS PH LIMITATIONS. AREAS TO BE FILLED ARE TO BE CLEARED, GRUBBED, AND STRIPPED OF TOPSOIL TO REMOVE TREES, VEGETATION, ROOTS, AND OTHER OBJECTIONABLE MATERIAL. ALL FILLS SHALL BE COMPACTED AS REQUIRED TO REDUCE EROSION, SLIPPAGE, SETTLEMENT, SUBSIDENCE OR OTHER RELATED PROBLEMS. FILL INTENDED TO

SUPPORT BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND CONDUITS, ETC. SHALL BE COMPACTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL REQUIREMENTS OR CODES. ALL EARTHEN FILLS SHALL BE PLACED IN COMPACTED LAYERS NOT TO EXCEED 9 INCHES IN THICKNESS. FILL MATERIALS SHALL BE FREE OF FROZEN PARTICLES, BRUSH, ROOTS, SOD, OR OTHER FOREIGN OR OBJECTIONABLE MATERIALS THAT WOULD INTERFERE WITH

OR PREVENT CONSTRUCTION OF SATISFACTORY FILLS. FROZEN MATERIALS OR SOFT, MUCKY, OR HIGHLY COMPRESSIBLE MATERIALS SHALL NOT BE INCORPORATED INTO FILLS. FILL SHALL NOT BE PLACED ON SATURATED OR FROZEN SURFACES. SEEPS OR SPRINGS ENCOUNTERED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE HANDLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARD AND SPECIFICATION FOR SUBSURFACE

DRAIN OR OTHER APPROVED METHOD.

MAINTENANCE OF THE EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROLS:

1. UNTIL THE SITE HAS ACHIEVED FINAL STABILIZATION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROPERLY IMPLEMENT, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN ALL THE BMPS. MAINTENANCEMUST INCLUDE INSPECTIONS OF ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT BMPS AFTER EACH RUNOFF EVENT AND ON A WEEKLY BASIS. ALL PREVENTATIVE AND REMEDIALMAINTENANCE WORK, INCLUDING CLEAN OUT, REPAIR, REPLACEMENT, REGRADING, RESEEDING, REMULCHING, AND RENETTING MUST BE PERFORMEDIMMEDIATELY. IF EROSION AND SEDIMENT BMPS FAIL TO PERFORM AS EXPECTED, REPLACEMENT BMPS OR MODIFICATIONS TO THOSE INSTALLED WILL BEREQUIRED.

2. ANY SEDIMENT REMOVED FROM BMPS DURING CONSTRUCTION WILL BE RETURNED TO UPLAND AREAS ON SITE AND INCORPORATED INTO THE SITE GRADING.

3. A LOG SHOWING THE DATES THAT E&S BMPS WERE INSPECTED AS WELL AS ANY DEFICIENCIES FOUND AND THE DATE THAT THEY WERE CORRECTED SHALL BEMAINTAINED ON THE SITE AND BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE FRANKLIN COUNTY CONSERVATION DISTRICT OR OTHER REGULATORY AGENCY OFFICIALS AT THETIME OF INSPECTION.

STAGING OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT BMPS MUST BE CONSTRUCTED, STABILIZED AND FUNCTIONAL BEFORE SITE DISTURBANCE BEGINS WITHIN THE TRIBUTARY AREAS OFTHOSE BMPS. E&S BMPS SHALL REMAIN FUNCTIONAL AS SUCH UNTIL ALL AREAS TRIBUTARY TO THEM ARE PERMANENTLY STABILIZE OR UNTIL THAT ARE REPLACED BYANOTHER BMP APPROVED BY THE FRANKLIN COUNTY CONSERVATION DISTRICT.

ALL EARTH DISTURBANCE ACTIVITIES SHALL PROCEED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE. EACH STAGE SHALL BE COMPLETED AND IMMEDIATELYSTABILIZED BEFORE ANY FOLLOWING STAGE IS INITIATED. CLEARING, GRUBBING AND TOPSOIL STRIPPING SHALL BE LIMITED ONLY TO THOSE AREAS DESCRIBED INEACH STAGE. ANY DEVIATION FROM THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE MUST BE APPROVED IN WRITING FROM THE FRANKLIN COUNTY CONSERVATION DISTRICT.

STABILIZATION SPECIFICATIONS:

1. UPON TEMPORARY CESSATION OF AN EARTH DISTURBANCE ACTIVITY OR ANY STAGE OR PHASE OF AN ACTIVITY WHERE A CESSATION OF EARTH DISTURBANCEACTIVITIES WILL EXCEED 4 DAYS, THE SITE SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY SEEDED, MULCHED, OR OTHERWISE PROTECTED FROM ACCELERATED EROSION ANDSEDIMENTATION PENDING FUTURE EARTH DISTURBANCE ACTIVITIES.

THE PUMPING RATE SHALL BE NO GREATER THAN 750 GPM OR 1/2 THE MAXIMUM SPECIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER, WHICHEVER IS LESS. PUMP INTAKES SHALL BE FLOATING AND SCREENED.

A. Reinforced concrete design follows ACI 318-08 except for liquid containment structures which aredesigned in accordance with ACI 350-06, "Code Requirements for Environmental EngineeringConcrete Structures and Commentary."

B. Unless noted otherwise, all concrete shown is structural concrete with a 4500 psi 28-daycompressive strength and Type II Portland Cement. Refer to Section 03300 of the specification.

C. Reinforcement will be new Billet Steel, conforming to ASTM A-615 Grade 60, deformed.

D. Detail, fabricate and erect reinforcing bars in accordance with "Details and Detailing of ConcreteReinforcement," (ACI 315-99).

E. Unless otherwise shown, all reinforcing steel shall be provided with minimum concrete cover asfollows:Slabs on grade - top reinf. (interior) 11

2" - top reinf. (exterior) 2"

- bottom reinf. 3"

Foundation slabs/footing - top reinf. 2" - bottom reinf. 3"Beams and columns - 2"Walls - 2"

F. Lap splices and embedments for reinforcement shall follow the chart shown on this drawing unlessotherwise indicated on the drawings.

G. Any revisions to joint placement, pour sequencing or reinforcing splices must be submitted to theengineer for review and approval prior to submittal of reinforcing steel shop drawings.

H. Cure concrete at a minimum temperature of 50° F for seven days, following the criteria of ACI308-R01.

I. Concrete surfaces shall be finished per Section 03300 of the specification.

J. Chamfer exposed concrete edges 34" x 3 4" unless otherwise noted.

K. Equipment pad dimensions, housekeeping pad dimensions and openings for hatches, ducts andpipes must be coordinated with approved equipment shop drawings, and with the requirementsshown on other drawings, this project set.

L. The contractor is responsible for maintaining stability and preventing floatation of structures duringall phases of construction.
