CONCLUSIONS
• cis-9, trans-11 CLA mainly from endogenous synthesis via ∆9-desaturase with trans-11 C18:1 as substrate
• trans-7, cis-9 almost exclusively from endogenous synthesis whereas other minor CLA isomers are of rumen origin
• enhancing CLA in foods derived from ruminants involves rumen production of trans-11 C18:1 and tissue activity of ∆9-desaturase
