Message from the National Innovation Agency

The National Innovation Agency (NIA) extends a sincere welcome to all

speakers, delegates and exhibitors to the InnoBioPlast 2013, an International

Conference and Exhibition on Bioplastics. We are delighted to offer this forum to

the global bioplastics innovation community and all interested parties and stakeholders

to exchange views and experiences in relation to this fast growing industry.

Since Thailands National Roadmap for the Development of the Bioplastics

Industry was approved by the Cabinet on 22 July 2008, with the overall budget of

THB 1.8 billion (USD 60 million) to support its implementation (2008-2015), NIA

has been appointed as the core agency to drive the development of the local

bioplastics industry as guided by the National Roadmap. NIA focuses on initiating

and implementing strategic innovation to accelerate the growth of bioplastics

industry, and thereby increasing the value of related agricultural sectors.

NIA has been working closely with the bioplastics industry in Thailand for

more than 7 years. As part of our efforts to promote the bioplastics industry, we continue

to educate domestic consumers and persuade both domestic and international

investors in this regard, through various activities and bioplastics-related projects.

InnoBioPlast 2006 marked our first step towards gathering partners and building

up networks of cooperation from various sectors, both domestic and international.

Subsequently, in 2008 and 2010, NIA proudly hosted EcoInnovAsia 2008 and

InnoBioPlast 2010, respectively. Once again, this years InnoBioPlast 2013 carries

on our objectives and determination to provide an international forum dedicated

especially to bioplastics and to promote Thailand as a regional bioplastics hub.

This years partners include both domestic and international organizations, such as,

the Thai Bioplastics Industry Association (TBIA), PTT Group, Mitr Phol Group,

NatureWorks LLC and NatureWorks Asia Pacific, PURAC Limited, Sulzer Chemtech,

Novamont SpA, Unitika Limited, Teijin Limited, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation,

BASF, BioBag, Kimberly-Clark and DIN CERTCO.

For this years presentations, we are delighted to welcome over 35 high-profile

speakers from renowned companies and organizations worldwide. The conference

will cover a broad range of manufacturing technologies, innovative products and

their applications, as well as opportunities in marketing and investments. We also

hope to demonstrate Thailands potential as a bioplastics manufacturer and

exporter, and to encourage cooperation between organizations and related sectors

which would lead to further investments in the bioplastics industry in Thailand.

InnoBioPlast 2013 brings together key players in the global research and

business communities, regulators and environmental organizations to share the

latest technologies, and facilitate new partnerships and incentives to expand the

bioplastics industry. Furthermore, this event is an excellent opportunity to show the

spirit of cooperation and partnership between governmental bodies, the private

    sectors and international organizations.

Thus, we truly believe that InnoBioPlast 2013 will make a real and tangible

contribution to the development of bioplastics industry and hope that it will

become a regular event in our calendar.
