The small piece of paper is unable to depict the entire story

of its long journey with struggle, dedication of the, founders ,members , volunteers and associated staffs . All

the team members of RJSS who relentlessly worked to achieve its vision of working for the poor which resulted on community satisfaction towards our work and satisfaction

by our funders who regularly extended faith on us. The organizational profile is an endeavor to show its activity

which has been done in the past, an analytical view can

certainly found acknowledging work by the team RJSS.

GENESIS

Mr. Manoj Kumar and Vijay Kumar dedicated their life

for the upliftment of Society from their college life. The

two young college students from remote village could not

see the injustice, atrocities, disparity and unethical values

widely prevailed in the society. They were influenced by

the thought of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash and Lohia .During

their studies they formed an organisation Rashtriya

Jharkhand Seva Sansthan(RJSS) on 2nd Oct 1999 with

the help of their two friends Mr. Ram Nandan Prasad and

Mr. Birendra Kumar with a vision to make a model

society where injustice disparity atrocities have no place.

There have been regular endeavour towards creating a

favourable environment for socially balanced society and

is been established from small effort of regular

intervention in the area with dedication and

determination of change in mind

The work on UN convention of Children right with CRY ,

special intervention for holistic development of PTG

Birhor, education for out of school and drop out ,Women

Empowerment through SHG formation , Livelihood

promotion with Agriculture intervention with its adopt a

village program , improvement in the health status of po or

population, saving forest with its Rakhsha Bandhan ,

hunting stopped at Dalma and advocacy for the right and

entitlement of poor population specially child right

through Bachpan Bachao Andolan of Jharkhand.

Genesis of RJSS

Education and Child protection Program RJSS has been pioneered in educating the poor children of the villages since its inception, The organization

has experience of educating unacceptable city moving orphan, PTGs and number of out of school and drop children from different part of the villages of Jharkhand. It has worked in Giridih, Koderma, Gumla and East

Singbhum.

SSA residential school The organization has run several residential schools for the poor out of school, drop out girls in the distric t. The focus on educating the PTG Birhor has created a bench mark

Bachpan Bachao Andolan RJSS has started educating children from the poor students to adopt and educate them without getting any support of funding agency. The association of children to RJSS is very old, it has intensively worked for

Protecting Right of the Children-Supported by CRY RJSS is working on UN convention on the rights of the children supported by CRY. The project is to provide survival, development, protection and participation rights of the children. The project is focusing on

improving health, nutrition and education of the children. The organization has focussed on mobilization of the top officials at district level for better and proper implementation of the government run programs in the

block. The project in short span of time has revolutionize the work ,given momentum of child right through different intervention like formation of Health Committees,Kishori Samuh and Bal Sansad, Bal Akhra

,conducted press conference of the children. The Government has also recognized the work of RJSS.

Child Marriage-CRY Child protection against child marriage at early age is one of the focus under CRY funded program, the

organization has work extensively and tried to not to left any stake holders who can any way help to protect the child from child marriage. The organization has been awaring the community members, parents through

different institution like SHGs and PRI members. The organization worked on mission mode to aware all the villagers. Street artist played Street Play (Nukkad Natak) and media played major role on coveri ng the issues.

Model to save the PVTGs -Birhore community The association with the PTG Birhore community is like members of the family as the more than 100 Birhor

community is nearest neighbour of the organization’s Ashram. The organization has been working for the PTG Birhor since its foundation of the organization. The organization has been working on their integrated development of the community which includes awareness on

education, health, sanitation, living standard, livelihood etc. The changes can be perceived, felt and experienced comparing the data of their previous situation.

Health Health is an important integral on which the organization has been focussing to provide health benefits to the community. Organizing General health camps in

different villages, Eye Health camps , working on maternal and child health, reproductive and child health and community mental health are such area on

improving health of the society is been worked.

Health Camp

Health camps on general health and for eye check-up has been the regular activity of the organizations. The organization has been organizing health camps in the remote

villages of the blocks and for the poorest of the poor community.

Community mental health program -Basic Needs Bangalore under the

network of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (N.B.J.K.) Hazaribagh

The organization has been working on the issue since 2002 with the support of Basic

Needs Bangalore under the network of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (N.B.J.K.) Hazaribagh in Satganwan of Koderma district Jharkhand state and Gobindpur and Akbarpur block of Bihar State. The program covers mentally ill people to get them regular treatment and rehabilitation in their home

Water & Sanitation - Supported By: UNICEF and PHED, Government of Jharkhand

The organization has been working since last four years i.e. 2010 for the sanitation need of the society. The program works on awareness building to the community towards elimination of defection and hygiene and on awareness building for making

toilets in their home.

Achievement

Project is putting positive result to aware the community on hygiene , safe drinking

water and installation of toilet in their houses. The community has been aware from innovative techniques in local language through street play (Nukkad Natak). The

coverage of the program was wide spreade in two blocks of 242 villages.

Women Empowerment and Institution of women The women have always been subject of atrocities. The organization has been working since along for their empowerment so that they themselves can fight from the situation

The organization's effort is to empower them financially, socially, politically and i nstil leadership quality so that they may stand on their own and can run their livelihood and

simultaneously save themselves from molestation and abuse prevailed in the society.

Self Help Group (SHGs)

To improve the socio economic status of the women, R.J.S.S. has been actively involved

on S.H.G. Bank linkage and promoting internal lending within the group. The SHGs have

now empowered and got freedom from the clutches of money lenders.

Women’s Day On every 8th March, the organization organizes women’s day on the mark of solidarity towards women. Thousands of women gather on the occasion on Ashram premises, the

SHG women were facilitated with rewards for their achievement in different field of leadership , awareness drive, fighting with the society , livelihood and for any

distinguished work.

Training on Embroidery and sewing to women

The organization provides training to youth , women on sewing and embroidery work. Training

on embroidery and sewing is regular activity which is been imparted. There are many women

who become self-sufficient by starting their own business of embroidery and sewing and started

selling their product in the city market

Horticulture The organization promoted horticulture in the villages, mango trees and timber plants were planted in several villages.

Adopt a Village Program The organization has adopted two villages for its integrated development, the organization focused on poor institutions, awareness building, advocacy for the right and entitlement and check dam, agriculture and horticulture development.

Vermi Compost

The organization has promoted making bed of Vermin compost production as an effort to

make an integral part for the farmer. The farmers sale it in the nearby villages and uses it in

their farm also.

Training on Lac Bangles and its product The organization has provided training to the women SHG members on making Bangles and lac product like flower pot , decorated items made of Lac . The women were trained and have started their own venture.

Training on Fancy Bamboo product Training on Fancy Bamboo craft were given to the women SHG members , the women were able to make decorative item of bamboo . The product of bamboo is been sold in

Ranchi market.

Training on Fancy Jute Bag making The women were provided training on fancy jute bag making to promote their value addition livelihood options with their existing skills. The women are able to sell the product in the big city.

Training on Medicinal Plants A training on medicinal plant was also been given to the farmers , the farmers could identify the medicinal value of the plants .

Advocacy for right and entitlement

The organization has been doing awareness campaign, meeting with community members and different people, finding issues and putting before government officials

for on proper implementation of Government scheme and on policy level intervention on scheme like NREGS, RTI 2005, Disabled Act 1995 and on different Government welfare schemes.

Lok Samiti

Lok Samiti is a network of different NGOs in different part of the state which fight against corruption, discrimination, callousness prevailed in the society and for the rights of the people. It has been working since 1997 and taken up some urgent issues of the

region such as poverty, right and entitlement for the people, implementation of government schemes, right to information act, prohibition of dowry & elimination of female &foeticide etc. Every year in June a block level conference is been organized on restructuring of block level samiti and decided to finish all the pending work of the samiti and planned for further action. Around 800 people participated in the Block level samiti.

Disability The organization has been working for the weakest segment of the society, the disabled. The disabled have not yet got their due status in our state Jharkhand .The

R.J.S.S. along with other voluntary organization has formed a network for the disabled namely “Jharkhand Viklang Vikas Abhiyan” (JVVA)on 20th April 2003 with the help of

SABLA to help the disabled in the state. The network’s 44 partners oversees the immediate implementation of P.W.D. act in the state. The organization has been

organizing Dharnas, Rallies and Signature Campaign at different district and state level under the banner of Jharkhand Viklang Vikas Abhiyan for the above purpose

Green Awareness

Green Awareness Campaign (Harit Chetna Abhiyan) an innovative initiative of saving the environment has been absolute solution to protect deforestation. The campaign is quite an innovative and successful that the people who used to cut the forest were voluntarily involved in saving the forest and in extensive plantation to protect the environment.

An innovative initiative of Raksha Bandhan to bind ribbon on the trees understanding that this is a knot between the sister and the brother and the brother will never destroy the relationship in lifetime as is in Rakhsha Bandhan . The idea is to bind the community towards spirituality to save the trees.

Saving Dalma

The most successful program of the organization on saving of environment through providing equal right to natures entire creature, living things in Dalma with the name “DALMA BACHAO ANDOLAN” . The project was implemented in the area of Dalma(Dense forest area , popularly known for Elephants) of West Singbhum district. The area was popularly known to kill the animals (Sendra) in the area, the people are habituated to kill animals and was understood as religious practice by the community so it was very hard to understand the community to save the animal and do not kill them.

the people were into practice to kill animals. After a rigorous campaign of eight months to the people of the area a sharp decline of the hunting was seen.

Acclamation No 1

The organization on successful drive of saving forest in Koderma district, aware the people ,formed strong Joint Forest Management at village level the forest department on 1997 given reward of an NGO performed outstanding work towards deforestation by Mr.Sidharth Tripathi DFO of Koderma

Acclamation No 2 The organization again worked on deforestation in Gumla district, formed 200 Forest Management group , performed 1000 Raksha Bandhan with tree(An innovative step towards protecting forest by the community in which the community members adopt trees and bind ribbon and vows not to cut the forest). I 2003-04 the DFO Mr.S.Tripathy given recognition of our work and provided acclamation of best work on deforestation, Raksha Bandha, people aware toward wild life protection.

Acclamation No 3 Saving Dalma was prime concern of forest department, every year the villagers were killing the

animals and the Government was not very successful in protecting the animal. The organization with the help of Forest department started drive of awareness building on mission mode, the villages were so much motivated that after 2004-2005 still the villagers are protecting the animals rather going for hunting. In 2005 Mr.C.R.Sahay- PCCF has acclaimed the work of organization and rewarded as best NGO working on the wild life protection, community awareness.
