TOP 10 ORGANISATION CHALLENGES
1) Paperwork: You hate doing it. You hate organizing it. You'd love to throw it out,
but you can't decide what you can get rid of and what to keep
2) Delegation: You can't trust anyone to do it as well as you. You haven't practiced
your delegation skills, it's no surprise when it doesn't go well, justifying yourreluctance
3) Perfectionism: Your standards are so high no one can live up to them. Not even
you. But perfectionism is motivated by fear. You can't be judged if you never finish
4) Forgetfulness: Poor working memory makes you forget what you're supposed to
do. You can remember facts, but appointments? Commitments?
5) Impulsive Behaviour: A person of action, you'd rather move than take time to
think. But shooting first and asking questions later just leaves a lot of hole you
have to fix

ORGANISATION CHALLENGES(continued)(continued)
6) Projects: The trouble with projects, planning them, managing them and finishing them
starts early. The business plan stops many would-be entrepreneurs before they start
7) Procrastination: With so many exciting things to do, boring but necessary tasks are the
bane of every owner. Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?
8) Getting Organized: You're often inconsistent. Organized in some areas and disorganized
in others, you can't seem to transfer the same skills from one area to another
9) Lack ofFocus: You have so many brilliant ideas, each one "shinier" than the next, that
your biggest challenge it to pick one and see it through from brainstorm to business
10) Time Management: You are chronically late, overcommitted and still overpromising. You
underestimate how long things will take and often scramble
to catch up late into the night

ORGANISATION PITFALLS & THEIR
SOLUTIONS
The following 5 common organization pitfalls are presented along
with their solutions
1.Marketing
Problem: Marketing is often confused with advertising. Your market is
who you are trying to target with your advertising; direct mail,
commercials, signs, etc. Many do not realize that if you dont find your
niche and your target market is too broad, you will waste your
advertising budget
Solution: Focus and narrow your target market to a niche you will
be comfortable with and then advertise directly to them

2. TIME MANAGEMENT
Problem: Many people who become self-employed do not
realize that until they hire staff, they will have to wear many
hatsAssistant, Messenger, Executive, etc. Along with family
responsibilities, these additional roles can be verydemanding
Solution: Outsource time-consuming tasks to other
individuals-that way you can focus on
growing your business while someone else works on thetime- consuming tasks. This will also provide an opportunity
for you to still have enough time to balance family life and
work

3. PRICING
Problem: Quoting fees too low for fear of losing a potential
client or not calling for payment when a clients invoice is
overdue
Solution: Talk to other people in your field and also find
out what competitors in your area are charging. If you feel
uncomfortable contacting a competitor, ask someone else
do it. The same goes for collections. No small businessowner can go without collecting their fees, so if you fear
making the calls have someone make them for you or send
letters gently requesting payment

4. NETWORKING
Problem: Not Networking, Not working Efficiently
Solution: Every business owner needs to network broadly.
Each person you meet is a possible referral or potential client.
Join the business organization for your field . Stay focused
while you are at the networking event and be determined to
achieve pre-determined goals, which were your reason for
attending the event. For example: As a florist, not only do youhave to network at floral design trade shows but make it a
point to attend a wedding or event planning expo as well as
your local chamber of commerce and people in business
organization

5. CLIENTS
Problem: The inability to turn down potential clients who
require services that you do not offer because you are afraid to
say no since you need the money
Solution: As an individual, you have the ability to choose your
work assignments but taking any assignment that comes
around does not give you the opportunity to focus on what youlike to do. Stick to projects that incorporate the services you
offer. Let the other assignments go. This will allow you the time
to work on fulfilling projects
